It's that time to tune up those bikes and toss those riding duds in the wash, you won't need them for the World Naked Bike Ride in San Francisco. Its the first WNBR of the year, in conjunction with our WNBR members on the other side of the equator, San Francisco WNBR members have their second annual World Naked Bike Ride, Southern Hemisphere Edition, on March 12, 2011.

All around the globe on this day, mainly in cities south of ......the equator, tens of thousands of bike riders are riding naked in protest to our dependency on oil. But cities north of the equator are starting to ride in support of our southern brethren.

Our San Francisco contingent will meet at the east side of the fountain in Justin Herman Plaza at 11:00 AM. We are planning a Noon departure from the Plaza so that the ride will take place in the warmest part of the day. March is generally the onset of spring like warmth so it should be a nice day for a WNBR. But we ride rain or shine so no excuses not to be here and bare it out. And you decide how much bare you can dare, you can go all out in the joy of sun clad nakedness, go topless, bikinis, body paint or latex, leotard or lingerie, or tuxedos, whatever you feel like. Skates or skateboards have ridden along with us in the past. How about a nude unicyclist? And music maestro please. How about some of you musical bikes from Rock The Bike sounding off with us?

Our ride is in continued protest of an unsustainable energy policy in all nations around the globe. We support the innovation of alternate and improved energy technologies, the social commitment to a more sustainable energy consumption and generally the pure fun and joy of riding naked to draw attention to these issues. We also visit some of the most famous landmarks in the city like Fisherman's Wharf, The Palace of Fine Arts, the Lombard curves, North Beach, AT&T Park and most flat areas along the Embarcadero and downtown.

So set this date on your calendars and get your friends and fellow bike riders to join us. Ride as bare as you dare (nudity desired but not required).

This year, this WNBR action overlaps,
in time,
with annual SF Saint Patrick's Day Parade;
also on 12 March 2011.
Will the nude and topfree bikers
avoid the Paddy Parade route???
Or seek it?
Will they discuss this question BEFORE
they start moving?
