Dr Amer Araim, former Iraqi diplomat and UN political officer, is currently an imam at Dar al'Islam Mosque in Concord and a member of the political sciences faculty at Diablo Valley College. Dr. Araim will be speaking about the topics of his recently published book, Understanding Islam: 50 Questions.

IMO Dr. Imam did not clear up misconceptions of Islam in his new book nor his speech that I attended. In fact he seemed to support the current conceptions of the muslim religion. Most notably the attitude toward women and those with differing opinions. Also was mentioned their cruel ways of punishment being used only among their people if sharia law were to be enforced...which it never will be...this was somewhat of a sham and should be looked at closer.
