Is CIA OP: MK ULTRA at work in Tucson attack?
by Andrew W. Griffin
Tuesday Jan 11th, 2011 11:47 AM
Originally named by several codes, MK ULTRA was exposed by Freedom of Information Act during the 1960s, though may remain active under a different operation name and now with expanded range and increased advanced technologies. The recent tragic shooting in Tucson and the predictable response calling for censorship and promoting fear is exactly how MK ULTRA was supposed to operate.

Red Dirt Report

"There it was. The birthdate of the 9-year-old girl shot in the chest and killed yesterday by a robot-like assassin in Tucson, Arizona – September 11, 2001.

Christina Taylor Green was born on the very date that changed America for ever. She was among the children of hope – evidence that despite the death and destruction of a terror attack, the beauty of life still prevailed.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Green family and those who knew and loved this innocent girl who had a love of ballet and student council. She was at U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ congressional town hall at a Tucson Safeway because Christina had shown an interest in government and a neighbor offered to take Christina along because, as the Arizona Republic reported, “She thought she would enjoy it.”

The birthdate really shook me up. Was there something more to it? Ever since 09/11/01, Christina’s birthday, people have increasingly noted numerological patterns in days and events. As a reporter on 9/11 and the days afterward at The (Alexandria, La.) Town Talk, my editors instructed me to research and write about the writings of Nostradamus in hopes of making sense of the 9/11 tragedy. Many, many people have read into the prophecies of Nostradamus. Some see things in his writings that others don’t see. Regardless, there seems to be a power to his writings that is difficult to ignore. And in these troubled times, people are looking for answers.

And here we are, as I write this, on the date that reads 01/09/11.

And this leads me back to the alleged assassin, Jared Lee Loughner, 22. Clearly a troubled young man, a quick visit to one of Loughner’s YouTube channels reveals a person not only obsessed with issues pertaining to mind control but also a person who has all the characteristics of someone under mind control. This, naturally, brings to mind previous mind-control (MK ULTRA) assassins who are loners and speak in confused, circuitous Jabberwocky-esque riddles and appear to be in a daze, from Lee Harvey Oswald to Mark David Chapman. These are just a few examples.

Check out this YouTube site – if you dare – titled “Introduction: Jared Loughner.” As one blogger noted, the eerie, text-only YouTube site “reeks of forcible programming.”

As author Dominic Streatfeild noted in his fascinating book Brainwash, he notes the comments of an MK ULTRA subproject worker named Milton Kline. “In the 1970′s Kline commented that hypnosis could be used to create a Manchurian Candidate.” Said Kline, as noted by Streatfeild: “It cannot be done by everyone. It cannot be done consistently. But it can be done.” Adds author Streatfeild: “Perhaps he was right? Who’s to tell?”

In Britain’s Daily Mail newspaper, they report that the pot-smoking Loughner was “smart, opinionated, but maybe a little troubled.” He was also rejected by the U.S. Army for reasons unknown. The interest in the military, and his seeming rejection would be a red flag. Perhaps Loughner was considered useful in other ways?

And while Loughner did not list The Catcher In The Rye as one of his favorite books, he did note the dystopian Brave New World, Ken Kesey’s insane-asylum classic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, as well as The Odyssey, which I found a bit eerie, personally, only because in the days prior to the shooting, I had been playing Cream’s “Tales of Brave Ulysses” over and over, a song inspired by Homer’s “Odyssey.” But that’s a topic for another day.

Several books of the “things-are-not-as-they-seem” variety on Loughner’s list are Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. These classics of children’s literature, as well as Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz, another Loughner favorite, are often cited when addressing issues of mind control and the occult. They seem odd choices for a modern man in his early 20′s.

And now we see in the latest news reports that the authorities in Arizona are saying “We’re not convinced he acted alone.” For students of conspiracy history, this should not come as a surprise. Simply research Sirhan Sirhan, the alleged assassin of presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy back in June 1968. Sirhan Sirhan clearly had handlers, like Jerry “The Walking Bible” Owen.

Coincidentally (or not), we here at Red Dirt Report have written in recent months about well-known individuals who appear to be under the influence of mind control. From WikiLeaks creator Julian Assange to pop star and “Hannah Montana” avatar Miley Cyrus.

Usually such an event has a purpose. Political analyst Mark Penn was recently quoted as saying that President Obama needed an “Oklahoma City“-like event to help his sagging poll numbers and to reconnect with voters. In light of the heated Tea Party events in 2009 and recent bomb scares in Washington and elsewhere, the bunker mentality appears to be creeping across the country in the form of heightened security at airports, schools, malls and other public places.

At the time of this writing, Congresswoman Giffords is still under sedation following her being shot in the head. U.S. District Judge John Roll and five others are dead. We pray for all the victims and their families. One can only wonder what the true motivation was behind Saturday’s shooting. I suspect there will be a hue and cry from certain quarters seeking a clampdown and fewer opportunities for the public to meet with their representatives. We will be watching for updates."

"MKULTRA Mind Control Program
in Washington Post"

"Heading MKULTRA was a CIA chemist named Sidney Gottlieb. In congressional testimony, Gottlieb, who died in 1999, acknowledged that the agency had administered LSD to as many as 40 unwitting subjects, including prison inmates and patrons of brothels set up and run by the agency [CIA]. At least one participant died when he jumped out of a 10th-floor window in a hotel; others claimed to have suffered serious psychological damage."
-- Washington Post, 6/16/05

The CIA has been involved in developing sophisticated mind control programs since the early 1950s. MKULTRA is the most infamous of these, yet thanks to a virtual media blackout on the subject, very few people are aware of any of these disturbing programs. In a rare recent article in the Washington Post (see below), a few of the many disturbing aspects of MKULTRA are discussed. The article is an obituary for John K. Vance, a member of the CIA inspector general's staff in the early 1960s who discovered that the CIA was secretly conducting illegal mind control activities in MKULTRA.

Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), government documents dealing with MKULTRA and other secret mind control programs are now available to the public. In 1973, tipped off about forthcoming congressional investigations, CIA Director Richard Helms ordered the destruction of all MKULTRA records. Fortunately, 20,000 pages worth of MKULTRA documents contained in the CIA's financial records were overlooked. Though only a small fraction of the original documentation, these surviving documents reveal highly disturbing operations in which unknowing citizens were subjected not only to LSD, but also to radiation, lethal biological agents, and even torture for reasons of "national security."

Before reading the Washington Post article below, here are a few sentences from an FOIA document written by the Inspector General of the CIA about MKULTRA . To read the original document online, click here.

"The concepts involved in manipulating behavior are found by many people both within and outside the Agency [CIA] to be distasteful and unethical. Nevertheless, there have been major accomplishments both in research and operational employment. Many additional avenues to the control of human behavior have been designated under the MKULTRA charter, including radiation, electro-shock, and harassment substances. Some activities raise questions of legality implicit in the original charter. A final phase of the testing places the rights and interests of US citizens in jeopardy. [The MKULTRA program] has pursued a philosophy of minimum documentation in keeping with the high sensitivity of the projects. Some files contained little or no data at all. There are just two individuals who have full knowledge of the MKULTRA program, and most of that knowledge is unrecorded."

Though the MKULTRA program was terminated in the late 1960s, other even more sophisticated top secret mind control programs continue to this day. For an excellent overall summary of these programs, see http://www.WantToKnow.info/mindcontrol10pg. For more highly revealing, verifiable resources and information on MKULTRA and other mind control programs, see our Mind Control Information Center. Please help play the role at which our media is so sadly failing by educating your friends and colleagues on this important information. Together, we can and will build a brighter future.

John K. Vance; Uncovered LSD Project at CIA

By Joe Holley
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, June 16, 2005; Page B08

John K. Vance, 89, a member of the Central Intelligence Agency inspector general's staff in the early 1960s who discovered that the agency was running a research project that included administering LSD and other drugs to unwitting human subjects, died May 27 of respiratory arrest.

He died at the Wilson Health Care Center of Asbury Methodist Village in Gaithersburg.

Code-named MKULTRA (and pronounced m-k-ultra), the project Mr. Vance uncovered was the brainchild of CIA Director Allen Dulles, who was intrigued by reports of mind-control techniques allegedly conducted by Soviet, Chinese and North Korean agents on U.S. prisoners of war during the Korean War. The CIA wanted to use similar techniques on its own POWs and perhaps use LSD or other mind-bending substances on foreign leaders, including Cuba's Fidel Castro a few years after the project got underway in 1953.

Heading MKULTRA was a CIA chemist named Sidney Gottlieb. In congressional testimony, Gottlieb, who died in 1999, acknowledged that the agency had administered LSD to as many as 40 unwitting subjects, including prison inmates and patrons of brothels set up and run by the agency. At least one participant died when he jumped out of a 10th-floor window in a hotel; others claimed to have suffered serious psychological damage.

Mr. Vance learned about MKULTRA in the spring of 1963 during a wide-ranging inspector general survey of the agency's technical services division. The inspector general's report said: "The concepts involved in manipulating human behavior are found by many people both within and outside the agency to be distasteful and unethical."

As a result of Mr. Vance's discovery and the inspector general's report, the CIA halted the testing and began scaling back the project. It was terminated in the late 1960s.

MKULTRA came to public light in 1977 as a result of hearings conducted by a Senate committee on intelligence chaired by Sen. Frank Church (D-Idaho). Mr. Vance gave several long phone interviews to committee staff members but never had to testify.

Mr. Vance was born in Seward, Neb., and graduated magna cum laude from Doane College in Crete, Neb., in 1936. He received a master's degree in economics from Columbia University in 1937 and a bachelor's degree in library science from Columbia in 1939.

He began working on his doctorate at Harvard University during World War II but soon was serving in the Army. He was sent to language school to learn German and worked as a military interpreter at the postwar Nuremberg trials. In Nuremberg, he met people in the intelligence world.

His CIA career began in 1947. He was on the inspector's general's staff from 1960 to 1963, and then became the director of central reference until his retirement in 1971.

A member of the Maryland Ornithological Society and the Maryland Nature Conservancy, Mr. Vance helped in bird banding and also enjoyed gardening, biking, tennis and travel. He was a member of the Cedar Lane Unitarian Church in Bethesda.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth E. Vance of Gaithersburg; three daughters, Sally Roman of Kensington, Julia Stewart of Columbus, Ohio, and Margie Kay of Timonium, Md.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandsons.

There may well be a link between the CIA's mind control program and deranged killers like the Tuscon shooter, but it's impossible to take this article seriously when it offers numerology and Nostradamous as somehow relevant.
give it a rest
did the bearded one mention Tuscon in one of his silly quatrains?

"The Secret Agenda of Mind Control

Please note: the letters and numbers after each paragraph denote the book and page number from which the mind control information was taken. BB—Bluebird MC—Mind Controllers NB—A Nation Betrayed.

A declassified CIA document dated 7 Jan 1953 [1] describes the creation of multiple personality in 19-year old girls. “These subjects have clearly demonstrated that they can pass from a fully awake state to a deep H [hypnotic] controlled state ... by telephone, by receiving written matter, or by the use of code, signal, or words and that control of those hypnotized can be passed from one individual to another without great difficulty. It has also been shown by experimentation with these girls that they can act as unwilling couriers for information purposes.” BB 32

Under the provisions of the National Security Act of 1947, the CIA was established. One of the main areas investigated by the CIA was mind control. The behavior control program was motivated by Soviet, Chinese, and North Korean use of mind control techniques. The CIA originated its first program in 1950 under the name BLUEBIRD. MKULTRA officially began in 1953. In 1973, tipped off about forthcoming investigations, CIA Director Richard Helms ordered the destruction of any MKULTRA records. [2] MC 3, 10, 17

The Senate Intelligence Committee did find some records during its investigation in 1976. Senator Frank Church, who led the congressional investigations of the CIA’s unlawful actions, said that the agency was “a rogue elephant” operating above the law as it plotted assassinations, illegally spied on thousands of Americans, and even drugged citizens in its effort to develop new weapons for its covert arsenal. [3] In 1977, through a Freedom of Information Act request, 16,000 pages of mind control documents were found as part of the Agency’s financial history. That is how this information has been pieced together. MC 5, 18, NB xvi, 38

The CIA Mind Control Projects

A CIA document dated 10 Feb 1954 [4] describes an experiment on the creation of unsuspecting assassins: “Miss [deleted] was then instructed (having expressed a fear of firearms) that she would use every method at her disposal to awaken Miss [deleted] (now in a deep hypnotic sleep) and failing this, she would pick up a pistol and fire it at Miss [deleted]. She was instructed that she would not hesitate to “kill.” Miss [deleted] carried out these suggestions including firing the (unloaded) gun at [deleted]. After proper suggestions were made, both were awakened. Miss [deleted] expressed absolute denial that the foregoing sequence had happened.” BB 36, 37

MKULTRA grew into a mammoth undertaking. The nature of the research included these specific problems:

Can we create by post-H (hypnotic) control an action contrary to an individual’s basic moral principles?
Can we “alter” a person’s personality? Can we guarantee total amnesia under any and all conditions?
Could we seize a subject and in the space of an hour by post-H control have him crash an airplane?
Can we devise a system for making unwilling subjects into willing agents and then transfer that control to untrained agency agents in the field by use of codes or identifying signs? NB 13, 14, 28 [5]
In a 1971 Science Digest article [6], Dr. G.H. Estabrooks states, “By the 1920’s clinical hypnotists learned to split certain individuals into multiple personalities like Jeckyl-Hydes. During WWII, I worked this technique with a Marine lieutenant I’ll call Jones. I split his personality into Jones A and Jones B. Jones A, once a ‘normal’ Marine, became entirely different. He talked communist doctrine and meant it. He was welcomed enthusiastically by communist cells, and was deliberately given a dishonorable discharge. Jones B was the deeper personality, knew all the thoughts of Jones A, and was ‘imprinted’ to say nothing during conscious phases. All I had to do was hypnotize him, get in touch with Jones B, and I had a pipeline straight into the Communist camp.” BB 167-169 For more on CIA mind control projects, click here.

Dr. Jose Delgado, a neurosurgeon and Yale professor, [7][8][9] received funding for brain electrode research on children and adults. In the 1950s, he developed a miniature electrode placed within an individual’s cranium capable of receiving and transmitting electronic signals. Delgado was able to control the movements of his subjects by pushing buttons on a remote transmitter. He demonstrated by wiring a fully-grown bull. With the device in place, Delgado stepped into the ring with the bull. The animal charged towards the experimenter – and then suddenly stopped, just before it reached him. The powerful beast had been stopped with the simple action of pushing a button on a small box held in Delgado’s hand. [10] MC 147, BB 88

The Mind Control Doctors

In the second half of the 20th century, mind control projects resulted in extensive political abuse of psychiatry. Many thousands were subjected to unethical mind control experiments by leading psychiatrists and medical schools. Mind control experimentation was not only tolerated by medical professionals, but published in psychiatric and medical journals. Dr. William Sweet participated in both brain electrode implant experiments and the injection of uranium into medical patients at Harvard University. [11][12] Army doctors were involved in LSD testing at least until the late 1970’s. Subjects of LSD experiments included children as young as five years old, and brain electrodes were implanted in children as young as 11 years of age. BB, pg. K, 1, 21

Linda MacDonald was a victim of Dr. Ewen Cameron’s [13][14][15][16] destructive mind control experiments in 1963. Dr. Cameron was president of the American and World Psychiatric Associations. He used a “treatment” which involved intensive application of these brainwashing techniques; drug disinhibition, prolonged sleep, and prolonged psychological isolation. These were combined with ECT [Electro Convulsive Therapy]. [17][18][19] The amount of electricity introduced into Linda’s brain exceeded by 76.5 times the maximum amount recommended. Dr. Cameron’s technique resulted in permanent and complete amnesia. A class action suit against the CIA for Dr. Cameron’s MKULTRA experiments was settled out of court for $750,000, divided among eight plaintiffs in 1988.
