A Christmas Present-BAVC's Ken Ikeda Calls Police On SF Community Access Producers
On December 16, 2010 at a Bay Area Video Coalition meeting the Executive Director Ken Ikeda called the police on producers who were video taping the meeting and called the police to arrest them for "trespassing" at the community access center. He had previously removed several elected SF Commons Advisory Board members who had questions about a statement that he demanded that they sign without any discussion or consultation. The use of police to prevent video taping at the public section of a meeting of the BAVC board show serious mismanagement and violates the principles of a community access media center and free speech according to the producers.
SF Police Called By BAVC ED Ikeda On Community Access Producers For Video Taping
On December 16, 2010 at a meeting of the board of the San Francisco
Bay Area Video Coalition BAVC, the Executive Director Ken Ikeda tried
to prevent the San Francisco community access producers from video
taping the public section of the meeting. He tried to stop the video taping
physically and then called the police to arrest community access producers
for "trespassing". The BAVC management had also removed elected SF
Commons Advisory Board members who had been elected only two
months ago for not signing a statement that was produced secretly with
no input from the board. BAVC management has a record of violating the
SF Ethics Commission rules and refusing to provide a full audit of the
more than $800,000 they received from the city of San Francisco. Over
$200,000 was spent for a main studio that is still not being used for community
access productions despite the expenditure of public funds.

Hey, get your head out of the sand. You went to a board meeting of BAVC. It was not a public meeting in a public place. They have the right to restrict what goes on in their board meeting in their facility. It's their board meeting. They called the cops after you guys made total asses of yourselves and refused to leave. It's called trespassing. You could have given them the courtesy of letting them know ahead of time that you would like to tape the meeting, but in the end, they have the right to control every aspect of their meeting. You seem to pull this crap wherever you go, just shove your camera in everyone's face without a by or a leave.
