Gulf War II: Corexit Boogaloo

by Carol Brouillet (cbrouillet [at] igc.org)
Summer Burkes, once a writer at the San Francisco Bay Guardian, a burner, artist, blogger, helped build an altar at that annual pagan ritual known as the Spiral Dance last October where she handed a hand made flyer to local activist Carol Brouillet, host of the Community Currency radio show on Progressive Radio Network. Summer's passion, firsthand knowledge, and deep understanding of the terrifying situation in the Gulf, so well veiled by the corporate media serving a flagrant cleptocracy, enshrining corporate/Wall Street/oil interests above all others, triggered this radio show. We will probe deeply into the crisis and explore what we, mere human beings who care so deeply, can do. This isn't just throwing more debilitating facts about how bad things are in everyone's face, but a call to action, to join us in our efforts on behalf of real people, real communities under the assault of corporations and those government players that are aiding and abetting the criminals. Truth and heart have greater power than bullets and lies.

Hear Summer Burkes and Carol Brouillet this Thursday, December 16th, 2010, from 2- 3 pm Pacific Time on Progressive Radio Network. (If you miss it, because you are out in the streets of San Francisco protesting the illegal wars from noon to 2 pm, in solidarity with anti-war activists, spearheaded by Veterans for Peace, you can find the show later on the archives.)

Summer Burkes never considered herself an activist before Earth Day, 2010. She *still* doesn't really consider herself an activist -- just a fledgling New Orleans homeowner and Lower Ninth Ward community member who tried to help protect her new home and stanch the flow when the Powers That Be poked a hole in the Earth they still can't fix. Working closely with Matter of Trust and Burners Without Borders in the days after the Oilpocalypse began, she and her colleagues ("war buddies") encountered dramatic resistance from armed thugs working on behalf of the very people taxpayers finance to help. Things are weird in the world right now.

How terrible is the Gulf Oil Crisis? "Efforts" to stem the oil and "clean up the mess" have been censored. How toxic are those chemicals that are still being sprayed? Do people know the extent of the damage or long term health effects of the Exxon Valdez oil spill, and how the courts favored the corporation that was legally/morally responsible for what happened and denied peoples' claims, and how there is a pattern between what happened then, and what is happening now. Listen to Summer Burkes' firsthand account of her experience and her efforts to help those whose health, lives, land, hopes have been endangered by one of the worst man-made disasters ever.

After the fourth or fifth time coming back to the Ninth Ward from the Gulf Coast with chemical poisoning so severe she couldn't open her eyes or get off the couch for days -- oh, the slimy heart-attack feeling of Toxicant Induced Loss of Tolerance -- she used her savings to high-tail it out of there, and is STILL couch-surfing in her old Bay Area stomping grounds, waiting for them to stop spraying Corexit (which they haven't). Once the lead A&E columnist for the San Francisco Bay Guardian, and now an unpaid blogger and aspiring novelist, Summer B. makes it her mission in life to help sustain those who willingly stay behind, under the Corexit planes, in the poisoned waters the Cajuns will always call home, no matter how much the Corporatocracy carpet-bombs them with oil-industry slurry and synthetic genomics. Help her help them, won't you?

When you probe into this issue deeply, some disturbing facts appear-

Halliburton bought Boots and Coots 11 days before the rig disaster.

The people, entities most responsible for the Gulf Oil disaster, the Financial crisis, and 9/11 are the ones being rewarded financially and now in positions of greater power.

According to Leonard G. Horowitz And Sherri Kane in their article 30 Facts Evidencing that The Gulf Oil Crisis Was Planned

BP Oil CEO Tony Hayward sold 1/3 of his BP stock (223,288 shares) on March 17--a month before the explosion.

The Management Boards of the Eurex Stock Exchanges and the Executive Board of Germany's Eurex Clearing AG decided, on April 14, 2010, to introduce an equity option on shares of Transocean Ltd, effective on the day of the explosion, April 20, 2010. This gave inside traders a full day to dump their "uninsured" stock in Transocean at the highest price possible (before the rest of Wall Street responded to the explosion). (These inside traitors and industrial sabateurs, financially controlling Transocean, Halliburton, and BP, committed the gravest environmental crime of all time, with obvious plans to profit from the mass murdering of people and destruction of the Gulf.)

Goldman Sachs holds controlling interests (with Apollo Management) in the Nalco Company which produces the hideously deadly oil dispersant named Corexit.

Homeland Security's choice of accommodations for Gulf oil clean-up crews are the same toxic trailers banned from use during Hurricane Katrina.

Coincidentally, or demonically, the oil rig's failed cementation job exploded on Hitler's birthday, just in time to poison Earth Day 2010, thanks to Transocean's contractor--the infamous Dick Cheney/George Bush officiated Halliburton Company allied with Homeland Security.

Halliburton officials admit knowing their cementation job was likely to explode just when it did, according to Congressional testimony.

Goldman Sachs (GS) officials, likewise, knew the rig was likely to explode when it did. They bet millions of dollars on this event only days before it happened! (Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of GS, directed 44% (4.6 million shares) of BP stock to be dumped three weeks before the explosion.)

The blatant malevolence, harm, stemming from these man made disasters is waking people up, and mobilizing not just opposition, but major shifts in consciousness, enabling diverse people from across the political, economic, cultural, geographic spectrum to work together to help themselves, their communities, and join the vast majority in common cause against a tiny minority clinging to power. We invite you to join us, as we brainstorm, plan, organize to help the people of the Gulf, and nurture and grow our communities in the Bay Area, as we must confront and overcome these same forces at home.

In addition to encouraging people to send direct aid to those who need it most on the Gulf to survive through the holidays, we hope to find organizational and individual support to hold a public event in early 2011 with Dr. Ricki Ott, screening Black Wave.
