1st Day of KPFA Fund Drive A Success

I will NOT return to supporting KPFA until the intent of the current KPFA Is CLEAR! The Exec Director MUST be changed before any progress can be made. Incompetent decisions such as canceling the Morning Show was an abysmally stupid act of an arrogant, out-of-touch autocrat!

I won't support incompetent autocrats or squabbling extremists. Get back to your roots and provide us with real information and analysis...not LA Crap!

Thanks for keeping us informed about the fund drive and everything else at KPFA. Dennis Bernstein sounded serious when he said we could loose KPFA. We need KPFA now more than ever. I cannot recall a December fund drive so the need must be catastrophic. The weekends are also good for fundraising, as well as getting volunteers into the station to answer phones. If not enough money is raised, extend the fund drive through the weekend, and if need be, through December 31. After all, if people are willing to go to see garbage movies on Christmas Day, they have the money to give to KPFA. December is the Money Season, and KPFA deserves your primary consideration for funds. You, the listener, are the Santa Claus for KPFA; there are no corporate sponsors. We have 2 three-day weekends coming since the legal holiday is on a Saturday, so those of us who do not work weekends get Friday, Dec 24 and Friday, Dec 31 off, both good days for pledging and volunteering. These holidays are mostly alcohol guzzling excuses anyhow, and a far better way to celebrate is to conribute to and volunteer at KPFA. You can see on the website that there are all kinds of premiums, including Bernie Sanders' excellent filibuster speeches to save Social Security and tax the rich. You can also sign up to be a monthly contributor at whatever you can afford, all tax deductible.

As I tuned in to Al-Jazeera at a few minutes before 6 a.m. today 12/14/10, I heard Aileen Alfandarry provide a rebroadcast of some news items from last night's 6 p.m. news. Instead of telling the listeners KPFA will be gone this month if the listeners do not contribute, she whined that she is still waiting for the Thug Hallinan Gang friends, Brian Edward-Tiekert, et al producing the defunct Morning Show to return. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE FROM ANY ANNOUNCER.

ALL PROGRAMMERS AND ANNOUNCERS ON KPFA, 24 HOURS A DAY, must be told to do fundraising and if there are no volunteers to take phone calls, people can pledge online. You do have the option online to write a check or pay by credit card, in any amount, once or monthly, and choose premiums or not. ALL CONTRIBUTIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

Last night's 6 p.m. news was very tepid in its fundraising style and refused to interrupt the news to make sure they met their goal. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE 6 P.M. NEWS MUST BE TOLD TO STOP THE NEWS LONG ENOUGH TO RAISE THE MONEY EXPECTED, preferably around 6:30 p.m., letting people know what news is waiting for the fundraising to be done.

I received my KPFA membership renewal form yesterday and will not even open it until I have more information of the direction of the station. I am not contributing money so Englehardt can liquidate the station sell off the license. Follow the (smell of the) money!

The final totals from Monday were over $50,000 - a bang-up day. The report was also positive from WBAI in New York, which posted good results.

Why? We already have an NPR (National Pentagon Radio). We already have KQED and KALW. Why do we need KPFA? And who is this "we?" Are you talking about the real progressives which make up less than 1% of the population? All so-called "liberal" and "progressive" websites could shut down tomorrow and KPFA could go off the air tomorrow and nothing would change. The status quo would continue. None of these websites or KPFA is making any difference in the big scheme of things. You see the state of things, don't you? Things have only gone down hill since 2000. Because in the big scheme of things, the corporations own and run the world and its politicians and they don't give a damn what any so-called "liberal" or "progressive" thinks. In the true scheme of things, peak oil will "solve" almost all the major problems anyway. For any "liberal" or "progressive" to think that he/she is making any positive difference or that any of these useless politicians care what they think, you're deluding yourselves. Some of the politicians may give the appearance and illusion that they care, but all they want is one's vote and one's $$$$, which many people are still stupid enough to give them. The sheep keep voting for the same parasite politicians because of party line allegiance. They ignore the few real progressives running and keep voting for the same corporate shit and then the sheep voters rush to make excuses and apologies for the corporate politicians they did vote for.

''Peace Witch '' has got it ass backwards . It's the CL /''Save KPFA '' crew that now openly want to destroy Pacifica by having KPFA ''secede ''from that Union . They seem to be totally unconcerned that could start a process that could have even the Ultra Right wing Christian Coalition buying up the remaining stations .Newly elected CL Lsb member Dan Burnstein make their desire to shatter Pacifica quite clear at the Dec. LSB meeting .
