KPFA: Move Democracy Now to 7 a.m. & Other Needs

While it is certainly a reflexion of the backward state of American politics that allegedly "progressive" news shows such as Sojourner and Uprising from Los Angeles are completely devoid of a class analysis but instead have a vague racial and pro-Democratic Party outlook, the fact remains that Obama is simply another capitalist president, touring Asia at the moment to guarantee increases in profits to his patrons, the capitalist class. Framing his tour in terms of Moslems or anything else is irrelevant and insulting.

Hopefully, these Los Angeles programs will replaced by local VOLUNTEER news bureaus in all the 9 counties of the Bay Area, providing us information on all the workingclass struggle issues. These news bureaus, which by definition will have a labor base and in this area, provide coverage for the long neglected many immigrant communities, all of whom are younger on average than the native born population, can fill the 6 a.m. to 7 a.m slot and the 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. slots, assuming Democracy Now is at 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. With the young is the future. Hyun-Mi Kim who was just elected to the KPFA Local Station Board has offered to help obtain immigrant community support for KPFA by having their voices heard on KPFA. Now is the time and the need is urgent.

As to musical interludes, most of the KPFA audience has an above average education and it is the duty of a radical political station to raise the level of culture. It would be much appreciated if we could hear some classical music during the musical interludes. Anyone with an ear for music, regardless of background, immediately appreciates classical music, as well as being educational and inspiring to all. If that bothers some of the programmers, they could do a mix of classical and popular music. As it is now, the musical interludes are anything but musical.
