ELECTION DAY Vote Yes on 19, 21, 24, 25, Peace & Freedom or Green

by GOTV
RUN TO YOUR POLLING PLACE RIGHT NOW AND VOTE. Do not delay until the end of the day when you might forget or something might keep you from your polling place until after it is closed. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU VOTE. If you voted on an absentee ballot but have not mailed it, WALK IT TO ANY POLLING PLACE IN YOUR COUNTY OR YOUR COUNTY REGISTRAR; do not mail it. THE ONLY POLL THAT COUNTS IS THE ELECTION.

If there is a problem voting at your polling place or the County Registrar, demand a provisional ballot. You can always vote at your County Registrar if there is a problem at your polling place or you do not know your polling place. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

YOU ARE MAKING HISTORY WHEN YOU VOTE FOR PROPS 19 AND 25. The NAACP has called Prop 19 a civil rights issue because it will end most of the prison-industrial complex in California, a bellwether state. Proposition 25 will end the annual budget gridlock that causes the slashing of benefits desperately needed by the workingclass. To pass Propositions 19 and 25 is to provide historic milestones that the workingclass needs to move forward into the 21st Century.

Polling place lookups and voter information:
1. The back cover of your County voter handbook has your polling place.

The only two parties worth considering are:
Peace and Freedom Party at http://peaceandfreedom.org/2010/
Green Party at http://www.cagreens.org
and http://www.sfgreenparty.org/campaigns/campaigns.psp
and
http://www.cagreens.org/lacounty/

To vote Peace & Freedom or Green is to vote for peace, labor, civil rights, gay marriage, socialized medicine, free abortion on demand with no restrictions, for abolition of the death penalty, for the Palestinian liberation struggle, for free public school education for all from pre-school through university, for amnesty for undocumented immigrants and for the environment.

You cannot expect to have progress if you keep voting for the twin parties of war and fascism, the Democrat-Republicans. The Democratic candidate for governor, Jerry Brown, not only opposes Prop 19 legalizing marijuana, supports a peripheral canal to drain Northern California of our water, and supports continued attacks on the workingclass in the form of budget cuts, he also supported a charter military school while mayor of Oakland (1999-2007). Charter schools are by definition anti-labor and do not solve the problems of education in the workingclass schools. Military and education are antithetical and the same is true for military and culture. Only with peace can we have culture and a well-rounded education. See

He also was mayor of Oakland (1999-2007) when he sent the Oakland police against the peace demonstrators at the Oakland docks who shot the peaceniks with wooden and rubber bullets on April 7, 2003.

Jerry Brown is just as reactionary as the Republican candidate for governor and fellow millionaire, Meg Whitman. NO MILLIONAIRE CAN REPRESENT THE WORKINGCLASS, the 80% of us who sell our labor for less than $77,000 a year.

US ranking in life expectancy has gone from 5th in 1950 to 49th today, thanks to the expensive and for millions, unaffordable, private insurance racket proudly promoted by the Democrat-Republicans instead of the socialized medicine that exists in the rest of the industrialized world, and now at 49th, we are also behind many non-industrialized countries. That is why you should vote Peace & Freedom or Green, the two parties that support socialized medicine and oppose insurance companies.

and was based on a report in Health Affairs of October 7, 2010 at:

In 1999, the US ranked 24th, so the decline is now snowballing to the bottom. See University of Maine’s Bureau of Labor Education Report, Summer 2001 at

On Jerry Brown's reactionary positions:
From: “Right-wing consensus in California gubernatorial elections,” By Kevin Kearney,
22 October 2010
http://www.wsws.org/articles/2010/oct2010/cali-o22.shtml
“For his part, Brown has called Whitman out for exempting police and firefighters from her pension reform. Brown instead calls for pension-slashing across the board. In his 8-page plan for California, Brown states, “The current pension system costs too much and needs to be changed. We have to be realistic about what the state can afford…” More generally, he says he will “Review and cut wasteful spending for all state agencies”.”

“According to Brown’s plan, “Fixing government is not simply about cutting state employees or expenses” but it should also include an effort to cut regulations for big business.”
“Brown reiterated these positions repeatedly during the debates. On pensions, he said he would “raise ages, raise contributions” like Whitman and negotiate with public employee unions to make more desired cuts. Brown has boasted, “When it comes to unions: I’m the only governor who ever vetoed the pay raises for all public employees. I did it once, I did it twice, and I’ll do it again.” He asserted, “No one is tougher with a buck than I am.””

‘When asked if he would roll back the fees for university students that have made the cost of education “astronomical” (in Brown’s words) he said “no”. When asked if he would promise to freeze fees where they are, he gave the same response.’”

‘On the issue of immigration, Brown boasted of initiating the invasive “Secure Communities” program, which attempts to collect identifying information (fingerprints) for all immigrants in the country and compile it in a database. He said, “If they are found to be here illegally, they get deported.” He also mentioned that, “Workplace inspections are part of the solution.”

“‘When confronted with the death penalty, Brown again reveled in his right-wing record saying, “I’ve defended literally hundreds and hundreds of executions.” His website also claims it will free up money by challenging the judicial intervention into the state’s decaying prison healthcare system by simply refusing to make the court ordered changes. As Governor, Brown passed the first determinate sentencing law in 1977, which is considered the first step in the move to draconian measures underlying the state’s massive incarcerated population.”

No on G-by Transport Workers Union 250-A:
http://www.twusf.org/
From the San Francisco Voter’s Handbook, p 115, Paid Argument Against Proposition G by the ANSWER Coalition (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism):

Prop G is a political ploy that tries to put the blame of declining public services on the backs of working families. It is an anti-union proposition. Prop. G scapegoats MUNI drivers while ignoring the bloated salaries of San Francisco Metropolitan Transit Agency management. Executive mismanagement has allowed the siphoning of almost $62 million per year by other city departments, including almost $12 million in charges by the San Francisco Police Department alone. Prop G does not address the lack of funding coming from real estate developers and downtown corporations who profit from MUNI bringing workers to work and shoppers to stores. It is part of a larger trend of austerity measures that is targeting the benefits of hard working families in order to make up for the government’s subsidizing of corporate profits and the continuous funding of endless wars.

THAT’S RIGHT, OUR BUS FARES PAY FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, NOT MUNI!

Should Prop G pass, it will certainly provoke a general strike when the contract expires. Workers' wages are not the cause of public transportation problems in San Francisco; gross mismangement and excessive management salaries are the basic cause, and further, a federal government that spends money on guns instead of butter soon destroys everything, including public transportation.
