Saturday, October 30, 2010
Time:
10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Event Type:
Protest
Organizer/Author:
Laura Chao
Location Details:

Sick of Chevron's destructive drilling practices greenwashing ads? This will make you even angrier. Chevron has contributed millions to prop 26, the stealth anti-environment initiative!

Prop 26 interferes with the ability to implement AB 32, California's act that leads the nation in standards for greenhouse emissions.

Proposition 26 is backed by big companies that would benefit from its passage, including Chevron!

The language sounds innocuous, unless you realize that it would accomplish 2 things that are really costly to taxpayers:
it would block the ability of the governemnt to charge Chevron for the cost of any cleanup in California

any increase in "fees" would be considered an increase in taxes - and would requite a 2/3 majority to pass in the CA legislature.

Of course this means that you, the taxpaying citizen would have to pay the true cost of Chevron.

Time for a boycott of Chevron and all of their products.
