Southern California landlord Thomas Coates — the main financial supporter of the 2008 statewide rent control repeal measure (Prop 98) – has just donated a quarter of a million dollars to 3 Supervisor candidates (Wiener in District 8, Sparks in District 6, & Moss in District 10) who are already heavily backed by local landlords. The infusion of cash from Coates, who has a long history of fighting rent control, means that landlords are seriously targeting rent control in San Francisco.

Please join the Tenants Union, the San Francisco Labor Council, the San Francisco Democratic Party and other allies this Tuesday, October 26, at 5 :00 PM as we picket an office that Coates has in San Francisco at 500 Washington St. (cross street is Sansome). We need to highlight and protest big landlords trying to buy the election so they can move their rent control repeal agenda forward. We can’t let Coates buy these 3 seats for landlords (which would give landlords a 6-5 majority on the Board). Be there of be evicted! Please spread thw word! Bring noisemakers!
