Don't Let Texas Oil Barons Mess with California's Climate Change Law! Rally 10/10/10
Valero & Tesoro, two Texas oil companies, are pumping millions of $$$ into Prop 23. Prop 23 will hurt our communities, our environment and our economy. Stand up for climate solutions! Come and make your voice heard! 10/10/10 at noon. Valero on Mission St.
Local Day of Action: Santa Cruzians Use Art & Bikes to Fight Texas Oil!
WHAT: California leads the country in clean energy and global warming laws, including passing the 2006 landmark global warming act (AB32). This law helped to create investments in our green tech industry and over 500,000 jobs. Now, two Texas oil companies, Valero and Tesero, the largest funders of Prop 23, threaten this legacy. Therefore, UCSC students, Cabrillo students, and the Santa Cruz art and activist community has formed a coalition to rally against Prop23 and work together for a sustainable climate future. The day will start with demonstrations at the Mission Street Valero station, then bike rallies will move the protest into a celebratory festival where vendors and participants will interact in a 350.org community art piece, listen to musicians, and more.
WHEN: Sunday 10.10.10 from noon to 3:30pm.
WHERE:
12:00pm -Non-violent demonstration will be occurring on public sidewalk near Valero station at the intersection of Highway 1 and Mission St. in Santa Cruz.
1:00pm – Bike & Foot Rally to festival.
1:30-3:30 – Community art piece, music, and food to celebrate the day of action.
