Watsonville City Council will be voting on a flawed contract w/ the Calif. Dental
Assoc. Foundation this Tues. nite @ the 6:30pm session. It's the first agenda item so don't be late. Nick Balaich, who spearheaded the campaign in Watsonville to stop fluoridation, has written 2 excellent letters that will bring you up-to-date and will give you focus for your comments. One deals w/ the contract and why it is flawed, and the other clarifies the important points that are relevant in Tuesday's hearing. The time to address the toxicity of fluoridation is long over, but there's plenty to complain about in the contract, which could still be rejected, and, as Nick's second letter points out, the weakest link in this State-mandated fluoridation push is that there is yet no fluoridation substance identified that guarantees that it will meet the State's directive of safely reducing tooth decay without adding a greater toxic load to the drinking water. Whatever you choose to focus on, in a letter, email, phone call, or in person, please feel free to shame those councilmembers who would support this contract in light of the very real concerns of their constituents for safe drinking water and a fiscally sound contract w/ the CDAF.
