Attention fashion designers, garage sale hunters, thrift store lovers, planet savers, and spectators:

Join Sustainable Contra Costa for the 1st Annual Trashy Fashion Show, to be held at Oktoberfest on October 16 at Todos Santos Park in Concord. Contestants needed to create stylish outfits from these inspiring categories:

• Thrifty and Nifty--put together a secondhand outfit from pieces gathered from thrift stores, garage sales, etc. Help demonstrate that shopping secondhand is fun, saves money, supports local businesses and nonprofits, and is a green way to go.
• Trashique—for the crafty and handy, create an outfit from items that would otherwise be discarded or recycled. Show off that resourceful, fashion designer side!

Enter as a youth (10-19 years old) or adult (20+).

Spectators will pick the winners, who will strut their stuff on the main stage. Prizes include gift certificates to fabulous local stores and restaurants, including Fin’s on the Square, the Old Spaghetti Factory, Bangkok Thai, Toscano’s, the Hot Dog Palace, EJ Phair and Half Priced Books. A cash prize will be awarded to the overall best of show.

Registration forms are available at the Sustainable Contra Costa booth at the Thursday Farmer’s Market at Todos Santos Park, or on the Sustainable Contra Costa website:

Sustainable Contra Costa educates, connects, and provides resources for local citizens, businesses, and governments – enabling them to live and operate in a way that sustains the health and wellbeing of our environment, economy and society.
