Community-based non-profit agency API Legal Outreach (APILO) turns 35 this year! To celebrate, APILO will be presenting “A Taste of the Islands”, its annual celebration and fundraiser on Friday, October 22, 2010.

For 35 years, APILO (formerly Nihonmachi Legal Outreach) has worked against long-standing barriers to equal justice by providing critical legal, educational, and social services that are linguistically, culturally, and age appropriate. Most recently, APILO has been active in coordinating support and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. Service to the community is provided in over a dozen different languages, appropriate to some of the most underserved communities in the Bay Area.

“A Taste of the Islands” will offer a variety of cuisines from various Island cultures, and will feature the handcrafted specialties of Dominic Ainza, Executive Chef of Mercury Lounge. The event will be hosted St. Mary's Conference Center in San Francisco. The event will be highlighted by a concert by renowned artist Patrick Landeza. The event will commence at 6pm.

API Legal Outreach greatly appreciates any sponsorships, group ticket purchases, advertising, contributions for auction items, and direct donations. Those with interest to contribute time or donations; or with any questions in regards to the event or APILO are asked to get in touch with Edward Yu (eyu [at] apilegaooutreach.org , 415-567-6255 x248) for more information.
