The purpose of this 2010 Educational Forum is to build partnerships with labor, community and faith based organizations. Speakers and local candidates will address education from a wider perspective. Our goal is to get students, teachers and community members involved to give their opinion, share their hopes and to declare their commitment to put ideas into action.

Art Pearl is a retired UCSC Professor of Education with a lifetime career in teaching, research and public advocacy. He is a visionary and philosopher in models of Democratic Education and has written dozens of publications on educational policy, school equity and related issues. Art served on the Santa Cruz School Board for 3 terms and ran for Governor of Oregon in 1970. He currently resides and teaches in Oregon. His homecoming to Santa Cruz is warmly anticipated by the thousands of colleagues, friends, and students whose lives he has impacted through his decades of work.

Tabling space is available for related organizations and issues. Refreshments will be served.

The Pajaro Valley Federation of Teachers, the Greater Santa Cruz Federation of Teachers & the Santa Cruz Council of Classified Employees are sponsoring this forum.
