Shining a Light on Money and Politics
MAPLight.org –
I'm writing to invite you to an event for an organization I strongly support: http://maplight.org/ a nonprofit that shines a light on the money given to politicians and how those politicians vote.
MAPLight.org is doing groundbreaking work to get special-interest influence out of our political system. A few links to their work in the news:
Mercury News: http://www.mercurynews.com/opinion/ci_15624144
MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31510813/#35937156
Whether you're a political idealist, a realist, or a cynic, you owe it to yourself to look at the data that explains why major initiatives die in Congress and our elected leaders can't seem to get anything done. MAPLight.org doesn't offer all the answers, but it enables all of us to ask the right questions.
At this house party you'll have the chance to meet some of the people behind MAPLight.org and hear about their plans for expanding the movement for the money and politics reform we need. I hope you can make it!
Food and beverages will be served. PLEASE RSVP by Thurs. September 16 to DeAnna Dalton, deanna [at] maplight.org or 510-868-0894.
