from the Santa Cruz Sentinel:

"The Operating Engineers Local 3 will host a public forum for Santa Cruz City Council candidates from 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Council Chamber, 809 Center St.

The union represents two bargaining units of city employees, about 90 mid-managers and 65 supervisors. All candidates in the Nov. 2 contest have been invited, said Robert Solick, president of the mid-management association.

Candidates vying for three open seats are Parks and Recreation Commissioner Hilary Bryant, community volunteer Gus Ceballos, Planning Commissioner David Foster, insurance executive Kevin Moon, community volunteer Steve Pleich, retired firefighter Ron Pomerantz, Councilwoman Lynn Robinson and Transportation and Public Works Commissioner David Terrazas.

Solick said the candidates will be asked the same three questions about city issues before taking questions from the audience. For information, e-mail Solick at robbie1008 [at] hotmail.com."

The forum will be held within shouting distance of PeaceCamp2010. PeaceCamp members intend to go in hopes of getting candidates to arrest civil rights and homeless issues. Candidate Steve Pleich visited PeaceCamp2010 yesterday.

I'll be making a recording for rebroadcast on Free Radio Santa Cruz.
