Union Town SF HERE Local 2 Organizing, Strikes and Struggles 1978-1980 "The Zim's Strike"
http://blip.tv/file/3884268
In 1978 through 1980 thousands of San Francisco hotel and restaurant workers
were in revolt against the Local 2 HERE union bureaucracy and for a democratic
rank and file controlled union with elected BA's. A militant rank and file organized strike
at the Zim's restaurant chain was successful and the power of the ranks was growing
until the International put the local into trusteeship.
