The 1980 San Francisco hotel workers strike was the most important hotel workers strike since the 1946 strike. This year when 9,000 San Francisco hotel workers are battling for a contract, the lessons of the 1980 strike are important for the struggle today.

We are at a crucial moment in our struggle against big greedy multi-national hotel corporations, and standing together with our locals across the country and Canada will bring us victory. Like the wealthy Pritzker family who run Hyatt, these corporations are taking unfair advantage, but we shall not be moved! Join us in this historic rally!

§Laborfest Events Calendared but Not Featured July 12-21
All Laborfest events were calendared before July 1 and received daily red letter features on the home page until July 12, at which time they disappeared from the main page; they were only in red letters on the Labor page. Today, July 21, they finally appear in red letters on the main page again, and thank you. The cause of all of the problems in this society is no labor movement as labor is a threat to the profits of the capitalist class which is all they care about. This writer has contributed to this website, but you seem to be stuck on $1488. You would reach your goal, stated May 9 as $2010, if you would promote all the events, especially the labor events. The Bay Area is rich in labor history and the young must have that knowledge if we are to finally have socialism in this country, the only hope for humanity and Planet Earth.
