Sistah Boom is a drumming group which formed in 1981. They’ve performed at Pride and other socially conscious events over the decades. They also perform educational activities, sharing this type of music, in “lesbian-affirmative”, feminist environments with an outspoken political consciousness. At this event, Sistah Boom is led by co-founder drummer-vocalist Carolyn Brandy and noted drummer Ubaka Hill, calling out for a message of positive change.
This was the last performing act before the march, and they continued drumming into the streets throughout the march through the Mission and into the Castro.
