It's been rumored that Robert, Ed, and Becky are no longer spending the night at the sleep in. Is this true? Apparently County workers have seen them leave for hours on end during the middle of the protest and then come back in the morning before people start packing up. Becky herself said that she would be sleeping there every night until the ban is lifted, so this is an interesting development if true. Anyone have any info on this?

Official: Ed, Becky, and Robert have not been sleeping all night, every night, at the courthouse. This is despite previously made statements that they were committed in doing so until the camping ban in the city is lifted.

Once the media attention faded so did Robert, Becky and Ed. Very typical of FLUFF. This organization has become the joke of Santa Cruz. This is on their main webpage: "HUFF is Santa Cruz's oldest and most stubbornly persistent grass roots homeless advocacy group. We make trouble for the powers that be and fight institutional human rights abuses such as the "blanket ban": a Santa Cruz City Council law prohibiting homeless mothers and children from covering up with a blanket between the hours of 11 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. " Yeah, I guess it's okay for women and children to sleep outside in protest - but not Robert, Becky or Ed. Good luck with the election Ed, you ain't got my vote!

I read on Topix that she called the police for vandalism because someone stuck a pear in the tailpipe of her car. She thinks that the police should let an arsonist get off but someone should be arrested for a child's practical joke. SubRosa showed some balls by not pressing charges. Activists here should worry before letting her know anything if she goes to the cops over a piece of fruit.

Can someone explain why this protest, against a law passed by the city, is happening in front of a county building? Doesn't sound like an effective target. The county didn't pass the sleeping ban.

It makes sense because if you get a ticket for sleeping and you want to fight it, thats where you go, thats where the judges, prosecutors and DA are. That is where trials happen. It's county land within the City. Its just as valid as any other place.
