One wonders what embarrasses people? It is now 35 years since California overturned its anti-gay sodomy laws and we still have no gay marriage. It is now 7 years since the US Supreme Court did the same, and the US still does not have gay marriage, unlike many countries in the world. Illinois was the first to repeal these fascist laws, in 1962. For more, see

We just celebrated the end of 62 years of complicity with the US-Israel murder and torture of Palestinians and theft of Palestinian land with a 24 hour strike against the unloading of an Israeli ship in Oakland, which complicity is supported 100% by the Democrat and Republican Parties at all levels of office. Only the socialist organizations, such as Peace & Freedom Party in California, as well as the Green Party, support the Palestinian liberation struggle.

And it is only the socialist organizations and the Green Party which are 100% supporters of gay marriage. We have a Democratic Party president who does not support gay marriage, and neither do lots of other Democrats, as well as Republicans.

This writer (a) has no connection to this website but has contributed; and (b) can easily remember the 1960s, before any gay liberation movement existed, when it was completely unthinkable. Today's gay liberation movement came from the revolt of the black and Puerto Rican drag queens against a police raid of the Stonewall bar in Greenwich Village, New York in 1969, a time of many revolts against the status quo. It was our peace movement against the war in Vietnam, perpetrated by US imperialism to steal the resources of Vietnam, including its offshore oil, as well as to attack China which had a revolution in 1949, that made possible the women's and gay liberation movements of the 1960s and 1970s that caused the repeal of sodomy laws. We did not have the Internet, computers, photocopiers, cell phones and lots of other things. We did have commitment to struggle based on the labor movement of the 1930s and 1940s that made the comparative prosperity of the 1950s and 1960s possible. We defeated the fascist terror of the 1950s which was as much anti-gay as it was anti-communist.
