IranContraScumDid911 — June 10, 2010 — Opening statements were held in a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday in the highly anticipated murder trial of former Bay Area Rapid Transit police Officer Johannes Mehserle, who fatally shot unarmed passenger Oscar Grant III in Oakland last year.
Several BART officers were responding to a fight on a train, and Mehserle's defense attorney, Michael Rains, said the 28-year-old defendant was reaching for his Taser stun gun but grabbed his gun instead when he shot Grant, a 22-year-old Hayward resident, on New Year's Day 2009.
Prosecutors said Mehserle intended to shoot Grant, and he used his gun because officers were losing control of the situation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7NJBA5rr3c
