The mission of Solar Sonoma County is to promote the installation of solar PV and solar thermal on public facilities, homes, and private properties, and promote energy efficiency countywide through a public-private partnership. The 2nd annual Solar Energy & Efficiency Fair will offer an array of resources and opportunities for people to learn about solar energy, energy efficiency and available incentives and financing options.

Once again, this year's event will offer an array of opportunities to learn about solar energy, energy efficiency, available incentives, and financing options -- including the popular* Pathway to Clean Energy*, a step-by-step educational experience about how to "First Reduce, Then Produce," sponsored by the countywide Retrofit/Renewables Program and SCEIP. With the theme "Make the Move To Clean Energy," this event will offer an array of opportunities for people to talk to experts on solar installations, energy efficiency projects, and financing institutions to act on options. The fair includes keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops, solar energy displays, energy efficiency information, solar vendor booths, nonprofit/public agency educational booths, a green jobs zone, live local music, local food vendors, local wines and organic beer, and a family fun area - all in one convenient venue and free to the public.

The 2010 event aims to reach a much more diverse audience - particularly Sonoma County's growing Hispanic community - through bilingual promotional materials and a more culturally aware outreach campaign as well as bilingual signage, on-site energy efficiency demonstrations, and workshops. Particularly the expanded Green Jobs Zone at the event connecting the dots between current/future job opportunities and training resources/programs available right now, with career counselors on-site.
