FRIDAY May 14 at the GREEK THEATER - EARLY MORNING PROTEST!

The UC Berkeley School of Law continues to harbor war criminal John Yoo on its tenured faculty, under the shameless protection of Boalt Hall dean Christopher Edley. The torture operations designed, ordered, and carried out under Bush – and which continue today under Obama – only became possible through the work of the “torture team” lawyers including UC’s infamous John Yoo. Despite a worldwide outcry, UC has still not taken a single step to investigate how the professor’s culpability in crimes perpetrated during his employ at the Department of Justice affects his credentials to teach.

Outside this year’s Boalt Hall graduation, people of conscience will stand to greet the graduates and to protest the university’s role in allowing torture to continue. We will feature a tableau of “Guantanamo prisoners” wearing orange jumpsuits and bearing witness outside the Greek Theater as the audience arrives and the processional begins. We will provide jumpsuits for all who want to participate; call 415 864 5153 to reserve yours in advance.

We also need volunteers to carry "super-pickets," flyer literature, and hand out ribbons. World Can’t Wait will provide some appropriate signs for people to hold up, bring your own as well.

• Activists will start meeting up outside the Greek Theater at 7:30am; look for organizers in orange armbands. Gates open at 8:00 for the audience to be seated. Processional starts 8:30.

• During the 9:00 AM ceremony we’ll move the protest to the Clark Kerr Courtyard for the post-commencement 11:30-1:30 reception (a 10-15 minute walk from the Greek Theater on Gayley Road (Gayley turns into Piedmont Ave.)
Be at this protest to call on the entire UC community to reject complicity with the war crime of torture.

Help make this the last year that War Criminal John Yoo sits on the faculty at Cal!
