FILM SCREENING
Being Jewish in France
Yves Jeuland's sweeping new documentary explores the rich and complex history of Jews in France, beginning with revolutionary cries of "Vive la France" in Yiddish, and continuing through the Dreyfus Affair, the Vichy government's collaboration with the Nazis, and the absorption of Sephardic Jews from Arab countries after WWII. Narrated by Mathieu Almaric, the star of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, Being Jewish in France won the Jewish Experience Award at the Jerusalem International Film Festival.
Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Our Struggle: Responding to Mein Kampf, based on the French book and community art project Notre Combat.
