Raley's / Nob Hill Supermarkets Busted !

by John Briley
In this morning's newspaper I ran across a very interesting and disturbing article concerning a very large Supermarket Chain operating throughout Northern California.
Raley's the parent company, also runs stores within our area (Monterey, Santa Cruz & San Benito Counties) under the banner Nob Hill Foods. Based on various articles, it appears that following an investigation by local and state agencies it was revealed that it was a widespread practice within the company of managers encouraging workers to use their own health insurance to address injuries.

I have provided you with various article pertaining to this subject matter.

In light of the $580,000.00 dollars Raley's Grocery Stores has agreed to pay in penalties, I would sincerely hope that our Union Leadership in Northern California will pursue everything within their (Trustees / Fiduciary Responsibilities) and conduct a very extensive, detailed & thorough investigation into this entire matter.

To the extent that any Trust Fund Monies were paid out improperly and or any UFCW member incurred any out of pocket expenses, Raley's Supermarket's should be required to reimburse the Trust Fund and or any UFCW member in full, plus interest.
