Teabaggers get Ugly outside of Ayers event

by fbb
On April 22 Professor William Ayers came to Fresno for a film screening of the award winning documentary "Weather Underground". Due to Ayers past as a radical anti-war activist and the GOPs smear campaign in 2008 of linking Obama to Ayers past, KMJ and the tea party created a huge stir and encouraged people to shut the event down. They got the original venue to back out, when an alternate venue was found the organizers of the event started receiving death threats. Due to this the brown berets were called in to do security and were met by this unruly mob. As you can see the berets did not back down and will never back down to any racist hate groups.

Wow. Those critics look like lower-middle people one step above the most oppressed service industry workers. And they don't even grasp who is causing their problems or why the country is in such a major recession right now (it's their own political philosophy that is causing it). A bunch of masochists or stockholm syndrome on a wide scale

...of the Brown Berets for standing strong.

What a bunch of ignorant, incoherent tea party yahoos.
Yeah right, "liberty" is their concern.... bullshit. They can't even stand any other viewpoint be represented... in a film screening or any other fashion. ... can't summon the character to to engage in any form of real discussion or civility either.

Viva Aztlan nation!

MUCH Love and Respect to the Brown Berets for holding it down! La Raza KNOWS how to love and defend the people! Extremist right wing populism is getting out of control - self defense is a must. White folks like me need to be reaching out to Tea-Party types and let em know what's up: just about every society has to deal with racism about somebody, but White supremacy isn't a long gone social phenomenon - it's a specific legacy of social, political and economic reality that is !systemic! in this country to this very day. They're like, "We're not racists, we just want our country back to the good ol' days". When, the days when 'other' than Whites weren't eroding society through rebellion? It's thinly veiled racism because they don't understand the difference between social racism and systemic White supremacy. White folks like me need to understand that we got more in common with La Raza than we do with Glenn Beck or Sarah Palin. Thanks for the video, it was an inspiring reality check.

I know this was not a Peace Fresno event.

This is about the fresno cops.

When I was still living in Fresno in 2001, I would go out on Fridays and Protest with Peace Fresno. The cops would sometimes stand right next to us to say they had to "protest us". or to arrest us for stepping into traffic, or for crossing the street to many times. It was usually because the Freepers were on the other side and called the cops to ask us to be removed.

I remember on time Peace Fresno and others when to protest the Freepers at a rally they were having with conservative Jews.. PF was about 30 feet away from the event and still the Cops ask them to leave.

WHo was it that the Teabaggers where on church property, and allowed to argue with the Brown Berets and also allowed into the event?

Why didn't the organizers ask that the Teabaggers get off church property ?

FPD was intentionally not called. One of the main issues that the brown berets take on is police brutality, perhaps you've heard of our "Fire Dyer!" campaign. We do not trust the police and feel that they would have taken the teabaggers side. One of the things KMJ had been repeating in order to inflame their listeners was the bombing of a SF police HQ which has been attributed to the Weathermen, one sergeant lost his life in that. We knew whose side the cops would be on.
The cops did actually come later after most of the 'baggers had left. One of the baggers or possibly someone who just wandered by went crazy, starting beating on cars, kicked in the window of a house's front door, stole a car, led police on a high speed chase, crashed and died.
Also, we think the teabaggers have told the cops some crazy stuff about the berets as we've heard several people who have minimal association to the berets come up to us since this event and told us that FPD stopped them, took their picture and asked "what do you know about the brown berets?"
We will not be intimidated, while we militantly stand up to injustice we don't break the law, we have nothing to fear and will never back down.
Ya Basta FPD! Ya Basta Tea Party!

There were several mujers standing strong as berets as well.

The Fresno cops have a long unresolved history with the Berets, tied to a series of bombings in Fresno between 1970 and 1973. Targets of the bombing campaign included old City Hall (now Dyer's headquarters), the County Courthouse, several Bank of America branches, the State Parole office, and the Fresno Merchants Association. The cops, along with ATF tried their darnest to bust them, including a raid on the Universidad de Altzan looking for explosives, but couldn't. As far as the cops were concerned, the Berets morphed into the F-14ers of the late 1970s and 80s--which are viewed as the forerunner of some of our local street gangs.

We are reclaiming our radical history!
Chicano Power! Good to see the brown berets back in action and strong as ever.

THE BROWN BERETS SHOULD ORGANIZE DELEGATIONS to CANCUN FOR THE COP16/MOP6 UN CLIMATE TALKS IN DECEMBER 2010!
Who better to defend the rights of Mexicans and indigenous people around the world than the Berets?

Hasta la Victoria Siempre
