KPFA Programmer Bacon Missing The Boat?
KPFA labor programmer David Bacon who is also a supporter of the KPFA Concerned Listeners CL grouping apparently has no time to even mention much less cover the important court case that the SEIU has filed against the NUHW. Listeners want to know why Bacon is ignoring this story. It involves hundreds of thousands of SEIU hospital and public workers in California. These workers and who runs and control their unions is an important story but not apparently to Bacon.
One of the biggest struggles within the US labor movement i is the attack by the SEIU on hospital workers in California. Andy Stern and the SEIU are spending $25 million suing the former leaders of the SEIU UHW healthcare workers now called NUHW in US Federal Court in San Francisco. Despite the importance of this national and local story which is taking place right now it does not even mention one word by the KPFA labor programmer David Bacon. Maybe he is afraid of offending Andy Stern and the bureaucracy and he might lose some income from stories and photos he sells to these officials. It seems that is more important to spend most of his time with stories thousands of miles away from California than what is going on right under his nose.
