MARCH IN MARCH

March & Rally California State Capitol

Monday, March 22, 2010 Sacramento, CA

San Jose City College students, faculty, and staff will be joining their peers from across California on a March and Rally to the State Capitol.
With over 3.5 million students in our three segments of public higher education it is time to act! Skyrocketing fees, fewer class offerings, and devastating cuts to crucial student services are creating insurmountable barriers to student success. We need to invest in higher education NOW or else there will be no future!

Join us at Raley Field on the march to the State Capitol on Monday, March 22nd to express your support for the California Community Colleges! Students, faculty, staff, administrators, and all other supporters are gathering to make their voices heard. Let’s keep student fees low and KEEP THE DOORS OPEN of our community colleges!

Let’s call attention to the cuts that are devastating our educational system. This may well be the largest educational march in history at the California State Capitol. This march is already gearing up to be the largest student march in history - perhaps even larger than the historic march of 2003 which had over 10,000 students and system partners in attendance.

Remember that it does not just end with a march in Sacramento. You and your students should also be working to contact your elected representatives to set up meetings with them or their staff to discuss education and the benefits of the Community Colleges.

The SJCC Associated Students have secured two buses to take us to Sacramento. The Faculty Senate, AFT 637, is also sponsoring our trip with lunch for those who ride up on the bus with us. Our buses will leave SJCC at approximately at 5:30am and return to campus at approximately 5:30pm.

Fresh and Natural will open at 5:00am to serve coffee and muffins.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
