California Least Tern Habitat Restoration
Sunday, February 21, 2010, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: California’s smallest tern is also its most imperiled. You can help prepare habitat for the California Least Tern’s nesting season while earning prizes through the GGNP Endangered Species Big year.
Meet at the gate for the proposed Alameda Wildlife Refuge, northwest corner of the former Alameda Naval Air Station, between hangers 22 & 23, Monarch Street, Alameda, CA 94501. RSVP REQUIRED: e-mail Leora at leoraalameda [at] att.net (Best RSVP method) or call 510-522-0601. Part of the GGNP Endangered Species Big Year, a race against time to see and save the Park’s endangered species. See http://wildequity.org for more information.

The Golden Gate National Parks contains more endangered species than any other National Park in continental North America. This is certainly cause for celebration, but also for concern. Take part in the 2010 GGNP Endangered Species Big Year and get to know these species while helping them recover. It is free. Signup for the Big Year at http://www.wildequity.org and go to the calendar to see the upcoming Big Year trips and activities.
