San Francisco's Black musicians used to be forced into Black segregated locals. On February 8, 2010, a commemoration was held when the segregated locals were merged in 1960. These musicians discuss the history of the locals and conditions for Black musicians in San Francisco.

On February 8, 2004 at American Federation Of Musicans AFM Local 6 in San Francisco a commemoration was held on the merger
of the segregated White local with the Black local 669. Between 1945 and 1960 there were segregated musican's locals in the liberal
San Francisco. These musicians talk about the conditions of work in the 50's and the struggle to integrate their locals. AFM Local 6
Executive Board member Earl Watkins and other musicians discuss this history and also talk about the 1934 general strike and the
battle that helped establish powerful unions in San Francisco. They were joined by music journalist Philip Elwood.
