Support AFSCME's Week of Action at UCSC Dining Halls, Feb 8-11

Staff and students will gather in solidarity at the following dining halls at the following times to demonstrate about the following issues and discuss what is to be done about them and how to build the student and worker struggles in solidarity with each other! Awesome!

Everyday from 11:30am-1:30pm

Thurs – Cowell

WE ARE PAYING MORE FOR LESS!

- Student fees are rising. While we pay more, student services are being slashed.
- Workers, experiencing big cuts to labor time, are forced to complete a whole day’s work in less time.
- Workers forced to rush through their shifts aren’t able to thoroughly clean dining halls, resulting in:

1. Unsanitary eating commons
2. Unsafe working environment for workers and student-workers
3. Increased incidence of vermin! [flyer shows a rat holding a sign that says "UC, YOU LIE"]

During Fall Quarter, the custodians that clean dorms had their hours cut on Thursday and Fridays which resulted in overflowing trash cans, unsanitized bathrooms and increased cases of illness in residents. These cuts were fought and revoked. [The rollback of these cuts was one of the demands of the Kerr Hall occupation, for instance. -TOUC] Now we must fight to defeat the unsafe cuts to dining hall custodians.
