Funeral to Honor Haiti's Dead at Mass Burial Site on Monday February 1

by Brian E. Concannon (brian [at] ijdh.org)
PRESS RELEASE

The Aristide Foundation, together with the Bureau of International Lawyers (BAI) invites the national and international press, along with all others reporting from Haiti, to participate in a large funeral ceremony to honor the children of Haiti who were lost in the earthquake of January 12, 2010.
Suffering amongst us is deep, but those of us who are living, who are not physically injured, let us come together and offer consolation to the victims, and their grieving families. The moment calls on us to send love and light forth to our brothers and sisters who have passed in these tragic circumstances. We ask all Haitians to come in solidarity for a large funeral mass to be given in honor of those who have died.

The Aristide Foundation and the Bureau of International Lawyers are organizing this mass near Titanyen where state authorities have buried the dead in a mass grave. We will meet this Monday morning, February 1, 2010 at 7am in the morning to go together to Titanyen. For those who do not have transportation, we will offer buses leaving from several areas: Champs Mas, Plas Twa Men (Airport Road), and City Soleil.

We are asking those who can, to wear white. As the proverb says: If you do not pass through an illness, you cannot know the cure. We who struggle for human rights, we know what suffering is, that is why we wish to offer this final honor to those who have died and to send them off with words of love, dignity and solidarity.

For the Aristide Foundation, Toussaint Hilaire
For the Bureau of International Lawyers, Mario Joseph, Esq.
