The Black Jew Dialogues Makes Its Way to Sonoma State in Celebration of Black History Month

The social-justice comedy that has been taking college campuses across the country by storm will be performed at Sonoma State University on February 18th.
The Black Jew Dialogues was written and performed by Emmy award-winner Ron Jones and Larry Jay Tish. This two-actor comedy deals with the history and nature of prejudice and racism, and has been praised for its ability to “get to the heart of what divides people.” -Boston Globe
The Black Jew Dialogues combines fast-paced sketches, improvisations, multi-media and a post-show discussion. For the past two years The Black Jew Dialogues has been on the vanguard of what Ron and Larry refer to as "a new and vital conversation about race and culture; not just for African Americans and Jews, but for all Americans." Given the complex role that race and culture continues to play in America, as well as the divisive tone of political rhetoric, the shows audiences have overwhelmingly responded to the clear and open message of tolerance and understanding these seasoned performers promote. The hilarious show is always followed by a thoughtful and heartfelt discussion.
“Issues like affirmative action, gender rights, and old school ideas come up in almost every conversation that we have with our audience. There’s a lot that they don’t know and there’s a lot more that they didn’t realize that they didn’t know,” said Jones. With hundreds of performances in their wake they are setting sail for their busiest tour schedule ever.
“We use humor to make the difficult conversation about race, diversity, and prejudice easier to begin. After we’ve laughed together at the absurdity of many stereotypes and what we have come to believe about one another, our appetite to talk has been stirred,” said Mr. Tish.
“The show really resonates with people - young, old, black, Jewish, Latino, Asian.” added Jones.
The duo is currently touring through Indiana, California, Colorado, and Wyoming. Following Sonoma State they head to Maine, Virginia, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas, Louisiana, and Georgia.
“When the dust clears after this tour, hopefully we’ve made a difference, and if not, well, we still racked up the frequent flyer miles,” said Tish.
