"Arna Bontemps and The Commons" Arna Bontemps' 1936 novel about Gabriel's Revolt in 1800 Virginia is a vivid assertion of man's craving for freedom. What does The Commons have in common with freedom is the subject of tonight's literary disquisition on Bontemps' "Black Thunder." Special literary guest Lieford Fannin provides the powder, it's up to you to supply the spark. Sponsored by The Commons, San Francisco. 7 pm Friday January 29 The Notable Club 189 Ellsworth in San Francisco's Bernal Heights http://www.TheCommonsSF.org
