As US prepares long-term occupation, Haiti’s quake victims still without aid
With the US military “surge” into Haiti expected to include some 20,000 troops on land and on ships parked offshore by this weekend, a US official indicated that Washington is preparing for a protracted occupation of the impoverished and earthquake-devastated Caribbean nation.
“We are there for the long term, this is not something that will be resolved quickly and easily,” said Ambassador
Alejandro Wolff, the US deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, on Haiti following a meeting on aid to the battered country.
In addition to the US, representatives from Brazil, Canada, France, Haiti and Uruguay participated in the discussions. Canada and France are major donors to Haiti, while Brazil and Uruguay each have over 1,000 troops participating in the United Nations peace-keeping mission, which constituted the main occupying force before the earthquake.
Speaking earlier in the UN, Wolff denounced the governments of Nicaragua, Bolivia and Venezuela for accusing Washington of exploiting the tragedy in Haiti to impose a military occupation of the country.
He charged the three Latin American governments with attempting “to politicize the matter with ill informed tendentious statements” and having “ridiculously alleged conspiracy and occupation.”

This past week I searched for alternative news sources in an attempt to see both sides of this sorted tale. Will the French now admit to having extorted around $20B. from the Hatians over these past 50 years? ..Will it continue to be a nation of corporate slaves in what now looks like an endless sea of opportunity for corporate exploitation?
Suddenly, acording to the US Supreme Court, it sure appears so.
If the e-Quake was 'an attack,' via HAARP, as the Russian Intelligence portend, will this ever play-out like 9/11, where independent journalists were readily able to crack the lid off the not-so secret 'terrorism' campaign? In the rebuilding, will we even be able to 'follow the money?'
Reality check: Although I was shooting for Telemundo 52 at the time of the (sic) 'Rodney King Incidents,' what the word saw from smile n' Bill Clinton and the LA Police did not mirror anything approaching the story we saw on the front lines. One very fmous LA Director continued to shoot where no other news team dared to tread, but he and his documentary films quietly disappeared, as if seeing the National Guard in action was somehow contrary to the security of our nation. Clearly, some troops were well in place before the clinton 'Peace Team' came down from Santa Barbara.
Lying, two-faced politicians are the defacto norm in our (sic) 'democratic' countries today. Yet, the curtain has been drawn, and behind them we see the faces of these 'private' banksters, like Bernanke.
When crimes of financial fraud are levied against Corporations, they pay a small fine and move on. Only when their corporate stockholders & CEO's are jailed for such crimes will this right of 'personage' for these trans-national corporations be rendered as mere trivia. I'm afraid that is the story Haiti was used to overshdow.
