Day 2: BAVC Giveaways of Public Access TV Property Continue Unabated

by Camera Two
On Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009, BAVC continued its Giveaway of Public Access TV Property. The same two public access TV producers who helped themselves a day earlier to the station's furniture and studio props, were observed again on Day Two of the BAVC Giveaway carrying away more station furniture and other items, including some of which were sealed in storage containers.
"Injured on the Job" producer Sam Gold returns for Day Two of the BAVC
Giveaway of San Francisco public access TV property. Gold is seen here
removing more chairs from the shutdown station and loading them on to his van. Gold is purportedly opening up a private television studio in the South-of-Market area of San Francisco soon.

FYI; they are storing that stuff for BAVC.
Cables, that would have been thrown away are in that box.

The pictures on this article are proof positive about the nefarious role of Ken Ikeda and Newsom's department of Technology to dismantle the San Francisco community access station. The city had no list of equipment that was to be disposed of and there was no notification to community access producers about the availability of equipment and supplies from the station. Instead of listing this for offers from the users of community access, Ken Ikeda and his BAVC board of directors are cutting sweetheart deals with favored producers about who will get the equipment and supplies. As the city knows, there is a very limited space at the BAVC offices on Mariposa St. for all the equipment and supplies so they are handing over the equipment to some community access scavengers. Who approved these SF community access scavengers getting the equipment and supplies and how much did they pay if anything for these supplies and furniture? The privatization of the station which is the guiding force of the city and BAVC has no accountiblity of city property and it's dispersal. Over $1 million was spent over two years to build out the studio and now the city says that they do not have the funds to maintain a community access station.
by Public Access producer
WHAT!??! No need to "store" our (City property) furniture and equipment somewhere! The lease on this space does not expire until April 30, until which time we should have access to it in order to produce our shows.

Furthermore, meanwhile, is the City really going to pay $200,000 (that's our taxes, friends!) to dismantle our production facilities? That doesn't make sense. Instead, why can't we use that money to continue to run the station? Whose side is this bread buttered on? Who's getting this $200,000?
by The Community
Be rest assured all of the pricey and brand new electronic a/v equipment (unopened) in the "custody" of BAVC will disappear and never be used by SF public access producers again. Estimated Cost: (over $500K)

Expect this inventory to either wind up in the hands of the BAVC Yuppies or BAVC Bootlickers (you know who they are.).
Some of those BAVC Bootlickers are pictured here.

Eventually, Karma will catch up with these BAVC losers.
Good will Triumph over Evil.

We will win back OUR Station.

Sam Gold has appeared on John Rothman's KGO Radio program many times over the years. They're good friends.
John Rothman is a big-time Zionist, defender of Israel, and has worked for Nixon and Reagan.
This is the same Sam Gold who claims he advocates for those "Injured on the Job"? Strange.

That's the same Sam Gold you see in the picture loading a stack of chairs (public property) into his van
and driving it down to his private television studio down on 11th Street in the SOMA of San Francisco.

BAVC and Sam Gold are one of the many reasons why your taxes continue to go up, up, and up in San Francisco.
When will these criminals be arrested and locked up for an assortment of crimes against The People?

Ask Kamala (the SF DA). And, don't hold your breath.

Old Saying. First engage your brain before you put your mouth into gear. You don't care about what is true just what you think you can make others believe with your conspiracy nonsense. Fact is we are simply storing those items for BAVC as we have the extra space. Had we not offered,it would have probably gone directly to the dumps I would assume as they simply don't have the room to store it all. That stuff is the property of BAVC and was inherited from SFCTC and as far as the city is concerned, they can do whatever they want with it.

I am just as upset as the next guy that Market street is closing so why didn't you offer to help them pay the rent so that it could stay open? It's all about economics.

As far as Rothmann is concerned I don't subscribe to anyone's politics but my own. So next time you open your mouth, know about what you are talking before you make a fool out of yourself!

Sam Gold must be getting nervous with all his outbursts and alibis here on Indybay.
Sam Gold got caught with his fat hands in the Taxpayer's Cookie Jar.
Sam Gold is a big-time BAVC Bootlicker.

As for all that Booty taken from 1720 Market Street, don't buy any of Sam's b.s. "Possession is 9/10 of the law".
Don't ever expect to see that property again, Taxpayers. BAVC will be moving again and will have you bankroll
new capital costs to the tune of $300K. BAVC won't bother with recovering anything from Sam's "storage" (studio).

Add another $375K in Wasted TaxPayer costs for vacating 1720 Market Street, and you get the Picture. S-C-A-M.

As for John Rothman, "birds of a feather flock together", Sam. We can etch a big "Z" in your forehead, too.

Fact: Taxpayers did not pay for any property at public access TV, cable subscribers do, and most of them want public access TV to go away because of the content.
Whats with the term BAVC licker or bootylicker? that is very immature and weird, and is just another reason for officials to wanta to get rid of those conspiracy theory yo's.
FACT #1: The airwaves are public property, leased to Comcast for a set "fee", which SF Cable Subscribers pay for monthly,
in the form of "Franchise Fees" and "Public Access Support Fees". These fees are collected by the City and County of SF.
Therefore, the aforementioned "fees" levied by CCSF constitute a "tax" and are collected, as such. Cable subscribers,
who pay these taxes. are considered TaxPayers. So are The People of SF, who lease their airwaves to Comcast.

FACT #2: All Disbursements for SF Public Access TV come from the SF General Fund (Source: SF Treasurer's Office).
Therefore, all equipment, fixtures, furnishings, supplies, etc., purchased for SF Public Access TV becomes public property.
Just because public property is in the custody or possession of a private entity, BAVC, does not make it private property.

Sam Gold must feel guilty about what he has done, taking Public Property from the Taxpayers and Fellow Public Access TV
Producers for his own personal use. It amounts to "Privatization" of Public Access TV, which "We The People" are opposed to.

Nervous Not quite, but Julian, at least I have the guts to sign my name to any comments instead of using cowardly aliases like you do. If you bothered to get the facts maybe you would be able to channel your time more constructively. If you want to sully my good name, I only hope you have a good attorney because I won't stand for your crap.
by Sam Gold
Let me make something very clear, something that this person with his camera just can't seem to fathom. I am merely making storage space available to BAVC for what they had no room to store. period..... There is nothing else to read into it. These postings are placed by an unhappy camper who just can't accept the inevitable. I am as upset as any other producer about the fact that 1720 Market street is being dismantled but no matter how I personally feel about it, it is BAVC's call not mine. They run the show now. I certainly don't lick their boots. Can you imagine this guy standing around for 3 days with his camera. I could find better things to do with my time, I'm sure.

San Francisco producers have had a free ride for the past 10 years and other public access facilities such as CreaTv in San Jose actually have to charge a per hour fee to use their facilities. It's a rude awakening but is sadly how things will most probably be in the future. After all someone has to pay PG&E, liability insurance, Comcast, etc... Not a happy future for public access television. Life goes on.......

Reading some of the ramblings of Sam Gold posted here on Indybay seem like those of somebody running scared.

Now, he's threatening Indybay posters with frivolous legal actions for exposing The Truth and exercising their
First Amendment rights.

This is what America has come to......Gangster Tactics from so-called "advocates" of working people. Shameless.

All the lawyers in the world will never be able to shut down The Truth, Sam. "The Truth Will Set You Free".

In the meantime, The Truth about BAVC's Hijacking of San Francisco Community Access TV will continue.

The Gloves Are Off.

The conspiracy theorist is just pissed off because now he doesn't have anywhere to broadcast his paranoid schizophrenic ramblings. Maybe an alien should stick him with an anal probe or something.

Franchise fees are not a tax and cable companies do not broadcast anything or use the public airways except for microwave traffic. Franchise fees are the rent cable companies pay for access to the public right of way. Most pay 5% of gross revenue, and some pay a little more for PEG access capital funds. In my community the garbage company has a similar franchise with the city. They pay 6% of gross revenues and provide free pickups at various government locations. To call these fees a tax is misleading and labels the authors as uninformed or intellectually dishonest. Sorry to see that here because there is a valid argument to be had. Just not the fake tax argument. It is a lie.
