PEOPLE'S PARK COUNCIL MEETING AND PAINT PARTY: December 6th.
We had a paint party, we were painting, the cops showed up, this is in response to their on going antagonism, the destruction of the free box some years ago, and their painting over the stage at People's Park due to some sort of non-compliance issue that the University has with anti-Imperialist slogans (anti-UCB slogans.)
Several years ago, the University of California Regents determined that the political slogans that had traditionally been painted on the FREE SPEECH STAGE in PEOPLE'S PARK needed to be censored without bothering to go through any sort of democratic community process. They have been arresting and prosecuting people for attempting to express themselves with paint.
THE FREE SPEECH STAGE in PEOPLE'S PARK has been built and maintained by volunteers for more than 40 years now, without any assistance from the REGENTS or the University of California. The FREE SPEECH STAGE was expressly built for the purpose of promoting FREE SPEECH ACTIVITIES without the interference of the University of California, their employees, or their police department.
