KPFA election results for Local Station Board

by =
KPFA at 94.1 FM, a listener sponsored station, has elected a Local Station Board. It is not clear how many voted as there seems to be no published showing of the numbers of voters. The results seems to show that the radical candidates barely won, which means again not enough people voted.
KPFA at 94.1 FM, a listener sponsored station, has elected a Local Station Board. It is not clear how many voted as there seems to be no published showing of the numbers of voters. The results seems to show that the radical candidates barely won, which means again not enough people voted.

The main problem is lack of programming and if this Board refuses to make the programming more local and more radical, KPFA is gone. For example, the UC Berkeley and SF State student strikes, and all other student/worker strikes in the Bay Area, should be covered LIVE as they happen. Instead, KPFA is currently giving us the sorry old past called archives! This does not build a listening audience among the young, who are the future. As to those of us who remember the horrible past, we do not need it and are not listening to the archives. Just file it and broadcast the present AS IT HAPPENS, WITH LIVE INTERVIEWS FROM THE PICKETLINES AND SIT-INS OF ALL PARTICIPANTS.

SUMMARY of results: (Runner up = alternate)
New/reelected Listener Reps = 5 from ICR; 4 from CL (1st alternate = CL)
New/reelected Staff Reps = 2 from ICR; 1 from CL (1st alternate = CL)

New/re-elected LSB members = 7 ICR and 5 CL
All continuing incumbents= 6 ICR and 6 CL
KFCF continuing rep = 1 CL aligned

Analysis: There was a gain of one pro-democracy listener board member over the previous board!
There was a also one gain in the Staff election; see below.
There are now 13 pro-democracy reps and 12 anti-democracy reps.
This bare majority may or may not be significant, depending on attendance of pro-democratic members, unity of these members, & dropping out of any members.
So far there are potential problems in all these areas, so we can only hope for the best!
