Help organize for the Jan. 23rd, 2010 mobilization and Day of Action for Reproductive Justice. Activists needed! We are mobilizing in opposition to the rightwing, anti-choice presence of thousands and thousands out of towners. We stand for reproductive justice, free abortion on demand, no church or state in our bedrooms, queer rights and immigrant rights, universal healthcare, non-moralistic sex ed, and much more.
This coming Tuesday, 11/17 at 7pm we will be meeting at Banyan 14 Street Food, 578 14th Street, Oakland CA 94612, right by 12th Street BART.
From our website in response to the Stupak-Pitt Amendment:
We oppose the abortion ban included in the healthcare legislation passed this last weekend. The anti-choice, regressive Stupak-Pitt Amendment sends women back to pre-Roe v. Wade days when those with resources had options, and those without were forced to carry the burden without dignity, respect or support. BACORR absolutely condemns this any piece of legislation that institutionalizes sexism and puts women's reproductive health last.
We say no to sexism, racism and rightwing pressure on elected officials who essentially cave in to bigotry, gender inequality and discrimination based on sex. We demand universal healthcare, free abortion on demand and without apology, sex education that is non-moralistic, free birth control, an end to patriarchy, safe birthing centers that honor the labor of women, free pre- and post-natal care, an end to the forced sterilization of women of color, an end to discrimination based on sex, race, sexual preference, immigration status, age or ability...
FIGHT BACK WITH BACORR.
