Vietnamese-Americans detest overtures made to the Communist by politicians in America.

by Francisco Da Costa
Vietnamese-Americans protested in front of City Hall demanding that injustices committed by the present Vietnamese against children, women and men must end. Hundreds gathered with protest signs demanding the end of the many injustices - rape, slave labor, human trafficking, dangerous working condition, lack of freedom, and total loss of civil and human rights. I stopped not knowing what was going on and spoke to a number of the protesters. Here is the report.
We, here in San Francisco take our freedom for granted - but, those that have lived under any dictatorial regime know not to take any of our God given freedom for granted.

We must remember that over 58,000 American soldiers died fighting the Vietnam war. Many of the American-Vietnamese living in California today and all over the Nation - experienced first hand the very harsh treatment at the hands of the Communist Vietnam Government. Many had to escape to experience freedom - and many still bear the scars of trauma and nightmares.

Today, Monday, November 16, 2009 hundreds of Vietnamese Americans gathered in front of San Francisco's City Hall - with the leaders from the Coalition of Vietnamese-American Communities of Northern and Southern California - protesting the overtures made by our American Government and some SF City officials meeting with Representatives from California-Asia Business Council.

The Protesters titled their protest" " PROTEST AGAINST MEET VIETNAM IN SAN FRANCISCO".

The protesters say that as Americans they are deeply troubled by the tolerance shown by the Communist regime in Vietnam toward human trafficking and rampant abuse of children as cheap labor. Many of these children work under dangerous conditions. Many are engaged in the sex trade and that includes human trafficking.

The California-Asia Business Council has partnered with the Communist in Vietnam and failed to pay attention to the on going injustices meted out to the innocent Vietnamese living under the supervision of this very evil and ruling dictatorial government in Vietnam - today.

The present Vietnamese government does not believe in basic human rights and continues to repress its citizens. There is little if no freedom of religion, movement and association. The government use its own government machinery to put down any protests and does everything to push for its evil - propaganda.

The protest today at City Hall demanded that the dictatorial Vietnamese Government must first demonstrate sincere respect towards the hard working and innocent people of Vietnam and stand for international standards - foremost among them being human rights. Then and only then should any kind of business be done with America - initiated by the California-Asia Business Council and other such entities.

Many of the protesters suffered in camps in Vietnam before escaping and know first hand what suffering means - more the loss of civil and human rights. Many of the protesters escaped the Communist Regime but still after all these years bear the scars of trauma, suffering and nightmares.

The Vietnamese-Americans protesters are united in their fight against the dictatorial regime in Vietnam and want the world to know what they stand for that is right. They are fighting for the human rights, the civil rights of the fellow country men, women, and children back home. They enjoy all the rights here in America and desire that the same be at home in Vietnam.

Do you think they care about Lennar gentrifying Hunters Point area. Not likely. These are economic refugees who benefitted from the capitalist dictatorship which the US supported just like they have in every other country they have built their empire.

These right wing
Vietnamese will be among the first to grab condos and houses which the native Blacks won't be able to afford at market rates.
These Vietnamese came with their gold, and silver and fereign bank accounts which they built by ripping off the workers. That continued till the socialist revolution drove out the capitalists.

Now it's not perfect, and you know whatever lack of justice and protection for the workers is because the US industries are pressuring the government there to provide sweatshops. Just like Haiti, El Salvador, Honduras etc, etc.
