San Jose-based Goodjoe fights poverty this holiday, one t-shirt at a time
Goodjoe partners with Sacred Heart Community Service to launch its “Design for a Greater Good” T-shirt design contest
San Jose, Calif. (November 5, 2009) – Goodjoe, a brand that strives to empower and creatively inspire individuals to contribute to our local and global communities, kicks off the season for giving with the launch of its “Design for a Greater Good” t-shirt design contest. The contest will benefit Sacred Heart Community Service (SHCS), a non-denominational, non-profit organization that provides essential services, offering tools for self-sufficiency, and ministering with dignity, compassion and respect.
"We're very excited to be partnering with Goodjoe," says Todd Madigan, Sacred Heart Community Service Director of Development. "This campaign fits so perfectly with our vision of a community uniting to ensure that every child and adult is free from poverty and our hope is that somehow, through some ingenious design, people will be inspired to join us in taking on the cause of the poor as their own."
Beginning Nov. 5 through Thanksgiving, students, designers and even your average Joe’s are invited to submit t-shirt designs with the theme of a community united to ensure that every child and adult is free from poverty. The winning design will be selected by SHCS staff based on how much it excites people about the cause, how wearable it is, and the votes and comments it receives from users on the Goodjoe website.
The winning SHCS t-shirt design will be selected by Sacred Heart and featured in its December e-newsletter. The winning shirt and its designer will also be touted on the Goodjoe Facebook page on December 1, 2009, with an in depth interview from the designer. The winning t-shirt will be sold exclusively at goodjoe.com, and fifty percent of the proceeds will be donated directly to the Sacred Heart Community Service organization. The winning tee will be the official Sacred Heart Community Service shirt for the 2010 calendar year.
"I had the pleasure of volunteering at the Sacred Heart Community Service last Thanksgiving and instantly fell in love with the organization and its people," says Nathan Pham, Co-founder of Goodjoe. "Knowing that their cause fits so well with Goodjoe, it was then that I approached Todd Madigan, Director of Development, to collaborate on this t-shirt design contest. I'm extremely excited to see how designers can graphically illustrate and communicate this great cause to the community."
The selected contest winner will receive a plaque issued by SHCS to honor the artist's contribution to end poverty, a plaque for their school (if they are currently a student) issued by SHCS to honor the school's contribution to end poverty, $300 from Goodjoe as well as a collectible Goodjoe Design of the Week t-shirt for the next six months.
