YOUTH SPEAKS’ ANNUAL LIVING WORD FESTIVAL COMES TO GLIDE SUNDAY OCTOBER 18, 2pm Living Water: Youth Speak To Spirit Features Youth Poets Performing Works About Faith, its Conflicts and Complexities WHAT: Living Water: Youth Speak to Spirit San Francisco’s Youth Speaks’ The Living Word Festival concludes with Living Water: Youth Speak to Spirit on October 18 at Glide Memorial United Methodist Church sanctuary in San Francisco. Living Water is a sampling of Youth Speaks poets performing works about their faith, and its conflicts and complexities. Young writers from all backgrounds explore their relationship to the divine through poetry. This event is co-hosted by Denizen Kane and Brandon Santiago and will include performances by the Glide Teen Choir and Jaz Sawyer and remarks by Glide’s Founding President Janice Mirikitani and Minister of Liberation Reverend Cecil Williams. Youth Speaks 8th Annual Living Word Festival, in San Francisco and Oakland; October 8-18, 2009 is an annual gathering of artists, educators, presenters and performers. Centered on literary performances and education, the Festival has grown into a massive celebration featuring performance works, live music, and a host of outreach activities that include workshops, youth town halls, educational activities, and more.
