It is amazing that on all their workshops at this conference there is not one word or workshop on the major attack on public education through privatization and corporate take-over of the schools. Maybe the organizers agree with this corporate agenda but they at least need to have a debate on the issue.
The failure to have this included either in the workshops and the agenda makes a clear statement that there is a major disconnect in this organization about what is happening today in the schools.
by you're joking, right?

"The failure to have this included either in the workshops and the agenda makes a clear statement that there is a major disconnect in this organization about what is happening today in the schools."

You obviously don't know what you're talking about if you really believe that the organizers of the annual Teachers 4 Social Justice conference are disconnected from what is happening today in the schools.

The keynote this year is by Dr. Pedro Noguera:

Also presenting will be Jeff Duncan-Andrade

by No Workshop On Privatization
There is NO workshop on privatization and corporatization of education for example the role of the Broad Foundation and what it is doing in schools throughout California. In fact, the Broad Foundation is not even mentioned in any of the literature at this conference. Are the organizers of this conference aware of who the Broad Foundation is?
by write about it
Comment and complain, as a sideline critic, or take some agency and publish an article on indybay about the Broad Foundation. Don't comment snidely asking if the organizers know about the Broad Foundation, get in contact with them. Be polite. Don't hate the media, become the media. Organize a conference with a workshop on privatization. Just because the workshop or literature does not say the word privatization (I don't know, but I'll take your word for it) does not mean that privatization will not be a topic of discussion throughout the day. Go to the conference and talk to people! See if you can run a workshop there, or be a stand-in for someone that can't make it at the last minute. Please take these suggestions constructively.
