The case for the next revolution

For years, people have been told that the problems in the U.S. were caused by Republicans and by George Bush. But now Bush is gone. The Democrats control the White House, the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.

Yet, today, over 20 million people in the United States have lost their jobs or are underemployed. Nine million families are in foreclosure or on the verge of losing their homes. Massive cuts to education and social services are increasing, because, we are told, there is not enough money. Yet, amazingly, more than $9.5 trillion of public funds have been handed over to big bankers and the richest people on the planet. Iraq and Afghanistan are occupied, and the U.S. military budget is growing, not shrinking. The current system, capitalism, makes it impossible to come up with a solution to these problems. The only real solution is a revolution!

Mexico celebrates its independence from Spain on September 16. However, the Mexican economy has been subjugated to the United States for decades. Join us for a talk about Mexico’s rich history of struggle and how we can support the Mexican people in their fight to be free from U.S. imperialism.

Por años, el pueblo se les ha dicho que los problemas en los EE.UU. fueron causados por Republicanos y por George Bush. Pero ahora Bush se fue. Los Demócratas controlan la Casa Blanca, la Casa de Representantes, y el Senado estadounidense.

Sin embargo, ahora, más de 20 millones de personas en los Estados Unidos han perdido sus trabajos o están desempleados. Nueve millones de familias están en ejecución hipotecaria o al borde de perder sus casas. Recortes masivos a la educación y servicios sociales están incrementando, porque, como se nos ha dicho, no hay dinero suficiente. Pero, asombrosamente, más de $9,5 trillones de fondos públicos han sido entregados a los grandes bancos y los más ricos del planeta. Irak y Afganistán están ocupados, y el presupuesto militar estadounidense está incrementando, no reduciendo. El sistema actual, el capitalismo, hace imposible solucionar estos problemas.
¡La única solución es revolución!
