Claims denial rates by leading California
insurers, first six months of 2009:
• PacifiCare—39.6 percent
• Cigna—32.7 percent
• HealthNet—30 percent
• Kaiser Permanente—28.3 percent
• Blue Cross—27.9 percent
• Aetna—6.4 percent
The corporate "death panels" already exist and insurance companies will continue to deny health care to millions because this is a system based on profit. Obama's administration and the Democrats, who preached change and promised health care reform, is back pedaling on a public option and will continue to serve the interests of the corporate insurance companies and not of the American working class.
These insurance companies are racist, sexist, and anti-working class and we need to fight for reform where everyone in the US is guaranteed health care. Come to this meeting to discuss why single payer universal health care is a civil rights issue.
