Jason Moran A Meet the Composer Commissioning Music/USA commission and The MOROCCAN Project October 23 - November 1, 2009 The program features a world premiere with original music by visionary jazz pianist Jason Moran. Moran has performed alongside some of today’s jazz greats including Ravi Coltrane and Cassandra Wilson and has been commissioned for numerous projects including Jazz at Lincoln Center. He will perform live during opening weekend. This season also features the return of The MOROCCAN Project with live music for all performances. The vibrant drumming of Gnawa ceremonies sets a backdrop for the haunting strains of oud and violin.
