A curry cook-off to support the International Campaign for Justice in Bhopal! We want to raise awareness about the ongoing tragedy in Bhopal before the 25th anniversary of the disaster. On December 3, 1984 the U.S. owned Union Carbide pesticide plant located in central India leaked 40 tons of methyl isocyanate (MIC) infecting the sleeping city with its toxic fumes. An estimated 23,000 people have died from the effects of MIC since, and some 100,000 people suffer from resulting health problems including lung diseases, cancer, skin and eye problems.
Chefs, professional and non-professional, will prepare their very best vegetarian curry for the contest. Attendees will vote for their favorite curry by placing a tip in that chef’s jar. The chef with the most money in his or her tip jar will win! All tips will go to ICJB. Also, there will be a silent auction with a variety of awesome items, from yoga classes to concert tickets. And of course, plenty of music, drinks and fun for all! $10 suggested donation at the door.
