Nancy Pelosi's
Continued Support For The Wars In Iraq & Afghanistan & The Bailout For The Banks

When: Friday September 4, 2009 7:30 AM
Where: St. Francis Hotel, Geary & Powell St. SF
Join anti-war activists, trade unionists, human rights advocates and others to distribute information on Nancy Pelosi’s continued support to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We say to San Francisco's Congresswoman and Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi,Get US Troops Out Of The Middle East! Although Pelosi has refused to have any Town Hall meetings she will be speaking at a $100 a plate breakfast at the St. Francis Hotel sponsored unfortunately by the San Francisco Labor Council.

Pelosi, who promised to get out of Iraq if the Democrats won control of Congress, is now voting for more funding for U.S. troops in Iraq and for expanding the war in Afghanistan. At the same time Pelosi has voted trillions of dollars for bank bailouts while millions of workers lose their homes and hundreds of thousands of California public workers suffer from furloughs and cutbacks. The attacks on working people continue unabated and Pelosi is a participant in this war.

Please join us to Demand!
•Stop Funding the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan & the War on Palestinians!
•Stop The Bailouts For The Banksters While Cutting Back Education, Public Services and Kicking People Out of Their Homes! •Jobs, Single Payer Healthcare, Housing and Free Education, NOT War!

Everyone who reads this should be made aware that the breakfast is being hosted by the Labor Council. Whatever your opinion of the Labor Council is your business, and whether or not this effects your decision to protest this event is also your business, but it is important that people who read this page be fully informed for the benefit of both the organizers and the potential protesters. I myself am neither, and am of no opinion on this matter, but simply wished to provide people with a more complete picture.
These are not workers sitting at the snooty St. Francis Hotel paying $100 a plate to listen to a warmongering, supporter of the US military base called Israel, health insurance funded, stadium swindling, election frauding millionaire Democrat. Workers host people in our homes and in our community halls, such as union halls, and we do not pay $100 for a meal. These are organized crime thugs stealing workers' dues and pension funds paying to support their sponsor, ruling class member Nancy Pelosi. Here is what Nancy Pelosi's stadium swindling gang does to "win" elections:

Nancy Pelosi supports the murder of Mumia Abu-Jamal. See the Roll Call vote 527 of December 6, 2006 condemning St. Denis, France for naming a street after Mumia Abu-Jamal, framed by Democratic District Attorney, now Pennsylvania Governor, Ed Rendell, for murdering a whistle-blowing cop in 1981, when the Philadelphia police were being investigated by the US government for corruption, when this cop, Dan Faulkner, was obviously murdered by a hired thug of the corrupt police. The resolution, HR 1082, was written by anti-immigrant Republican James Sensenbrenner. Here is more on HR1082,

Here is the infamous vote:

The San Franicsco Central Labor Council supposedly has condemned the frame-up of Mumia Abu-Jamal, yet they are promoting an event with a speaker who supports this frame-up. Here are the workingclass and labor union supporters of Mumia Abu-Jamal:

As to healthcare, you will not find Nancy Pelosi on the list for single payer healthcare as she is bought and paid for by the health insurance companies. Here are the sponsors of HR676, single payer healthcare:

Here are Nancy Pelosi's campaign contributions, with $33,500 from the insurance industry for the current election cycle, at:

Here are the top industries contributing to Millionaire Pelosi's 2010 re-election, in a battle against peacenik, supporter of Mumia Abu-Jamal, Cindy Sheehan, including the defense aerospace industry which does not exist in San Francisco:

And here is the list of shame, including all the labor lieutenants of capitalism, spending the hard-earned dues and pension funds of the workers they steal from instead of organizing the 87% of labor that is unorganized for minimum union wage of $25 per hour:
Industry/Total/Individuals/PACS
Health Professionals $104,000 $0 $104,000
Building Trade Unions $46,000 $0 $46,000

NANCY PELOSI DOES NOT REPRESENT SAN FRANCISCO; SHE REPRESENTS HER CAPITALIST RULING CLASS. SHAME ON ANY LABOR UNION MEMBER WHO ATTENDS THIS SWINE SWILL AT THE TROUGH OF THE CAPITALIST CLASS. The workingclass and peace candidate for Congress from San Francisco is Cindy Sheehan.

Michaela Spangenburg while making clear she does not want to picket Pelosi because Pelosi is being honored by the SF Labor Council forgot to mention that this protest of Pelosi is also opposed by Socialist Action, Socialist Organizer, ANSWER, Peace and Freedom Party, World Can't Wait-RCP and the Party For Socialism and Liberation PSL.These organization felt it would be harmful to their efforts for a protest against the invasion of Afghanistan on October 17th if they picketed Pelosi at a SF Labor Council sponsored event. This despite the fact that Pelosi is a key supporter of the expanded war on Afghanistan. Such are the "socialists" in the US.

All organizations endorsing our peace marches and any other worthwhile event should be told that their endorsement means that they are delivering at least 50% of their members to the peace march or other event from the Bay Area, consisting of the following 9 counties: San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Sonoma, Solano, Napa. For the labor unions, they would have to spend their money on chartering buses for the hundreds of thousands of labor union members in the Bay Area to get to a San Francisco demonstration, and that is the kind of organizing we need to build a serious labor movement capable of demanding a $25 per hour minimum wage nationwide, organizing the unorganized, making peace possible, winning single payer healthcare or preferably socialized medicine, freeing Mumia Abu-Jamal, abolishing prisons and the death penalty, guaranteeing free public top quality schools to all from pre-school through and including university, and guaranteeing top quality affordable housing and public transportation to all, among many other urgent needs of the workingclass. Right now, the labor unions spend their money on promoting all stadium swindles (and they are all swindles), buying Israeli bonds and promoting the capitalist Democratic Party, the twin capitalist party of the Republicans, which Democratic Party receives millions of workers' dollars via the labor unions. As it is now, the endorsements of Democratic Party lackeys like the San Francisco Labor Council are not taken seriously, at best. LIFE CANNOT CONTINUE IN THIS SOCIETY THE WAY IT HAS BEEN. We cannot allow the SF Labor Council to be used as a fig leaf over the horror that is capitalism and its twin parties, the Democrat-Republicans. It is long overdue that the House of Labor be cleaned up and the first thing they need to do is to STOP SWILLING AT THE TROUGH OF THE CAPITALIST CLASS.

Down with Pelosi.

The media will be there for sure, and we can get our message heard, NO DOUBT!!! Nancy Keiler, Code Pink, San Franciso
